S. APOSTOLIDES. 20O0175 THIS BOOK, CONTAINING OUR LORD'S PRAYER ONE HUNDRED DIFFERENT LANGUAGES, IS, BY GRACIOUS PERMISSION, DEDICATED TO THEIR MAJESTIES THE KING AND QUEEN OF THE HELLENES, BY T1IKIR VERY OBEDIENT SERVANT, S. APOSTOLIDES. PBEFACE. S. APOSTOLIDES. PREFACE. "Ouii LORD'S PRAYER in One Hundred different Languages" is published solely for the benefit of the remaining unfortu- nate "Cretan Refugees" in Greece, and the proceeds of this edition will be de- voted entirely to their relief. If, however, my efforts to obtain subscribers to the work have not met with greater success than I at first had anticipated, I yet feel bound, on behalf of these unhappy exiles, to express my most sincere and grateful thanks to all those who have so kindly and generously contributed towards my object. With regard to the remark which has been made, that the insurrection is now over, I beg to state, that when I began my appeal the distress of the exiles was at its very height ; but, however this may be, I feel assured that there are still in Greece many of these unhappy people fr Xll PREFACE. reduced to destitution, who will be truly thankful for even the mite I am enabled to send them through the generosity of my subscribers. I embrace also this opportunity of thanking Mr. Watts, the Oriental Printer, for the assistance he has rendered me with regard to the various types, &c., required, he being the only one in England who could undertake the work, owing to its immense difficulties.
