To ^the right is the present bridge in process of construction, many figures are at work on it. Only the first span can be seen, the others are hidden by scaffolding and piles. The bridge stretches across the picture to the Surrey side of the river, and the horizon is bounded by warehouses, domes, chim- neys, and the trees in Lambeth Palace Park.
