Notwithstanding the large number of books that have been published respecting Shakespeare, I am not aware that in any one of them is to be found a complete list of the various early quarto editions of the plays, in which the titles and imprints are given at length. They are not even to be found in Lowndes, or in other bibliographical lists ; and I have frequently been at a difficulty when desiring to identify some of the editions, especially of those j)rinted after the appearance of the first folio.
