The Fourth of July is the anniversary of the Nation’s birth. Memorial Day is sacred to the memory of those who gave their lives that the Nation might live. With faith undimmed in the perma- nence of our Country, its safety and security, and with an abiding confidence in the social justice for which the Flag stands, and in accordance with the Statute, I designate Tuesday, the fourteenth day of June next, as 35 la u Ba u For over a century and a half, the Flag has been a living symbol to which in these days of stress and strain we must dedicate Ourselves anew in confi- dent hope of peace, plenty, and contentment. “One flag, one land, one heart, one hand, One nation evermore!” Given under my hand and seal of the State at the Capitol, in Hartford, this twenty-fifth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two and of the independence of the United States the one hundred and fifty-sixth.
