THIS Letter was written for the satisfaction of our own immediate friends and relations. It is merely an account of what was seen and heard by two Gentlemen during a stay of twenty- four hours in a small town in the south of Ireland, at a fearfully interesting period. There will be found but few original observations, no censures, no suggestions, our only object being to give an accurate narrative. Our names have been attached to the publi- cation in hopes that they will be a sufficient guarantee for the truth of every thing related from “personal” observation. For almost every other assertion our authorities have been given. CH. C.H. March 1, 1847. * * • № ©
