 fame, to the Treajurcr oj the Province.

 - T HEREAS the provJfioiw contained in a certain Aft qf the Parh'ament of 
 thig Province, paffed in the thirty-third year of Your Majcfty's Reign, intituled, 
 •• An Aa to eftabliih a further fund for the payment of the falarie* of the Officers 
 " of the Lcgiflative Council and Houfc of Affembiy, and for defraying »he con- 
 ♦• lingent expences thereof ;" in fo far as the fame di-l extend to peifons retailing 
 Spirituous Liquori, or Wines, in lels quantities than three gallons, but not 
 keeping a Houfe of Public Entertainment, are expired : We Your Majerty's moft 
 dutiful and Loyal Subjeas, the Reprefentatives of the People of the Province of 
 Upper-Canada, in Parliament alTembled, do moft humbly befeech Your Majefty 
 that it may be enaflcd, and be it enafted by the King's moft excellent Maiefty, by 
 ind with the advice and content of the Legiflitive Council and Afle nbly of the 
 Province of Upper Canada, conftituted and aifembled by. virtue of and under the 
 authority ot an Aa pafled in the Parliament of Great Britain, influled, •• Ao 
 •• Ah to repeal certain parts of an Aa, paffed in the fourteenth year of His Ma- 
 *• jeftv's Reign, intituled, " An Aa for making more efFeaual provifion for the 
 *• Government of the Province of Quebec, in North America, and to make fur- 
 •• ther provifion for the Government of thefaid Province," and by the authority 
 of the fame, That from and after the filth day of Auguft in this prefent year, and 
 from and after the fifth day of April in every vear enluing, every Shop-keeper, or 
 other peifon whatioever, who fliall fell or vend any Wine, Biandy, Rum, or other 
 SpirituoxM Liquor, in lefs quantity at any one time than three gallons, fhall be 
 poITeaed of a Licence for that purpofe, whether he or (he does keep a Houic of 
 Public Entertainment, or does not ; which Licence it fliall and niay be lawful for 
 the Govetno.-, Lieutenant Governor, or Pcrfon Adminifterjng the Government, 
 by or through the Secretary of the Province, or other perfon or perfons whom he 
 ftjall authorize to iffue the fame, to grant upon payment of the like rates, duties 
 and fees, as by law are now paid by any perfon Licenced to keep a Houle of Pub- 
 lic Entertainment, for his or her Licence fo to do : fuch rates and duties to be col- 
 kaed, paid and applied in like manner and form, and to the fame ufes, a» by the 
 *%erein before recited Aft of the Parliament of this Province is direded ; And if 
 any perfon (hall at any time after the time or times refpeaively herein fpeclfied and 
 limited, fell or vend any Wine, Rum, Brandy, or other Spirituous Liquor, in

 lor that pufpote, and (hall be thereof conviaed in manner and form let forth by a 
 certain Aft of the Parliament of this Province, intituled, '* An Aft for resuming
