Report of the Sub- Committee appointed bij the Montreal Committee of Trade to examine Mr. Adams's Hydrometer. In several experiments made with the instrument constructed by Mr. Adams and one of Bates' Sikes's Hydrometers, the difference in the result was found to be trivial. The Committee a. jf opinion that for the general purposes of th« trade in Canada, the Committee of Trade may with confidence recom- mend " Adams's Hydrometer" as an useful instrument, particularly as the low rate at which it can be afforded, places it within the reacJi of all who may require it. " Adams's Rule of comparative Values and Strengths," will be found to be a most Valuable Scale, and should be in the hands of every one in the Spirit Trade. (Signed) J. W. DUNSCOMB, Montreal, Oct. 30, 1833. Chairman Sub-Corn. Feport of the Sub-Committee appointed by the Board of Trade to examine Mr. Adams's Hydrometer. After having made several experiments with Mr. Adams's Hydrometer, and compared the result with J. Long's (Sikes's) Hydrometer, the difference was found to be unimportant. The Committee are of opinion that the Board of Trade may with confidence recommend Mr. Adams's Hydrometer as an useful instrument, more particularly on account of the great difference of those used in the United States, as being more plain and simple, and not so liable te deception. The difference is as follows, viz : — the American Proof is 16§ under Proof, and the American 100 over Proof is Q^ by the British standard. Mr. Adams's Rule of comparative Values and Strength will be found to be a most valuable scale, and shoui.! ^e in the possession of every one one engaged in the Spirit Trade. (Signed) JOHN THOMSON, Toronto, July Gth, 1841. Chairman Sub-Com.
