A visitor cannot, under any circumstances, be permitted to vote on any question, or be admitted at an emergent meeting, if the Lodge has private business. 2d. — A Brother, who is not a subscribing Member to a Lodge, cannot be permitted to visit this Lodge more than once during his secession from the craA ; this rule, how- ever, is not intended to apply to Brethren who reside* at 9 groater distance than six miles from Montreal* ;/ M»* CHAP. Xlll. * ' Of Honorary Memhern. '' ' ' Ist. — The Members of this Lodge considering: it a duty they owe to several Brethren, distinguished by their ntnk in society, and by the great services they have rendered the craft, to grant thom the privilege of becoming Hono- rary Members, have resolved that in all cases where Brethren so distinguished, shall make application to be- come Honorary Members, they shall he admitted, if on a ballot there shall not be more than one black ball. The application to be made in writing, addressed to the Secre- taryi who shill communicate the same to the Members in tiicir respfclive summonses. . 2d. — All Honorary Members of this Lodge shall pay the hnlf yearly dues to the Grand and P. Lodges of Emergency. 1st. — The Master, or in his absence the Senior War- den, has the right and authority Qf asses^j^Ung a Lodge upon any emergency ; the cause of such emergency must be stated in the summtonse?, por shall any other business be entered upen at that meeting. If the meeting should b:e called on the general business of the Lodge, the ex- pense shall he paid out of the funds of the Lodge ; but, if at the request of any Brother for his benefit, or progress, then to be paid by such Brother. CHAP. XV. Master. . Ist. — The Master of this Lodg^ is responsible for the Warrant, and correct keeping of the Records and Papers in general, during his adinmistratioa, which shall not ex- ceed two years in succcPi=ion. 2d. — The Master of this Lodge being absent, the im- mediate Past Master shall preside. If there should be no Past Master of this Lodge present, then the Senior War- den shall act as Master, otherwise the Senior Master. Mason. CHAP. XVL Furniture. Ist. — The Furniture, Lc. of this Lodge shall, on' no eccount, be removed to any other house, (cases ol' ex- treme emergency excepted,) until after a rcgolar meeting and a resolution of the Master and a majority of the Breth- ren to that efl'ect. CHAP. XVH. Of Members WiHidrawing. 1st. — Any Member of this Lodge desirous of withdraw- ing, shall make application iu open Lodge, either per? BDoaliy or in writing;. Ist. Ist.'^Immecliately after the festival of St. John the Evangelist, the Secretary shall make a true return of the new elected Officers and Members of this Lodge to the Grand Lodge, and at the same time remit the amount of dues payable to the said Grand Lodge, CHAP. XIX. Motions. Ist. — No Motion of any kind shall be regarded, tinleSB duly seconded. -— CHAP. XX. Mode of Altering By-Laws. Ist. — No alteration shall be made in these By-Laws, nor shall any new ones be added, but at a regular meeting of the Lodge, by motion in writing, to be handed up to the Master in the Chair ; and, if seconded, inserted in the proceedings of the Lodge ; to which the Master shall call the particular attention of the Brethren, at the next regu- lar meeting : announcing, that it will be discussed the following month ; for which purpose it shall then be mentioned in the summonses. The above Rules having been read in open Lodge, on the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-five, was unanimously adopt d, clause by clause, as the By-Laws of Union Lodge, JVo. 1.
