Section 2: Be it further enacted, that all, and every person or persons, having any claim against this Council for any dam- age or damages, sustained by him, her or them, in conse- quence of any road, or roads established, or to be established by any By-Law of this Council, through or over his, her, or their lands and shall within three months after the passing of any such By-Law, as aforesaid, give notice to the Clerk of this Council in writing, of the amount of damages so sustain- ed by him her, or them, and of his, her, or their intention to claim such damages from this Council. It shall be the duty of this Council to hear evidence in support of such claim during the sitting of the Council next, after the laying out of such road or roads, whose duty it shall be to award the amount of damage or injury sustained. The District Councils of the several Districts in Upper Canada are empowered to make By-laws for regulating the time at which Dogs shall be permitted to run at large within the District, and for im- posing a tax upon the ow^ners of Dogs, and for obliging the ovvners to keep Collars on Dogs, and for the destruction of all Dogs not claimed by any person as the owner, and run- ning at lar^e contrary to any such By-law. And whereas rt IS expedient to restrain the increase of useless Dogs in this District, to adopt measures for the proper keeping the same, and for preventing their running at large at certain seasons of the year. [Temporary.J Whereas it is necessasy and expedient to levy taxes for the erection of school houses and to defray other expenses hereinafter mentioned, connected with the school houses for the several School Sections hereinafter mentioned and set forth : Be it therefore enacted by the Municipal Council of the District of Brock, constituted and assembled under and by virtue of an Act of the Parliament of this Province, en- titled " an Act to provide for the better internal Govern- ment of that part of this Province which formerly consti- tuted the Province of Upper Canada, by the establishment of Local or Municipal Authorities therein," and it is hereby enacted by the autbority of the same, That it shall and may be lawful to assess the iUlovving School Sections, and they are hereby assessed in the sums and for the purposes follow- in?5, that is to say. School Section No. 7, in the Township of Blenheim, the sum of ^£21, .£8 part thereof to defray the costs already incurred in the erection of the school house therein, and X 13, the residue thereof, for the purpose of erecting a wood-shed and other necessary out-houses thereto? School Section No. 9, in the Township of West Zorra, in the sum of £100 ; School Section No. 10, in the Tow^nship ol West Zorra, aforesaid, in the sum of £50 ; School Section No. 4, East Zorra, £88 ; School Section No. 9, in the Township of East Oxford, the sum of £30, for erecting school houses in the said Sections ; School Section No. 2, "in the said Township of East Oxford, the sum of £4 17s. 9d.; School Section No. 3, Township of Blandford, the sum of £4 12s. 6d.; School Section No. 8, in the said Township of Blandford, the sum of £13 15s., for the pur- pose of providing furniture for the school houses in the said School Sections, over and above all costs and charges and expenses of collecting the same. Section 2. And be it further enacted by the authority W^s¥^'^i^mi^^Cl ^ BY-LAWS OP THE BROCK DISTRICT COUNCIL. 1842-7, aforesaid, That the said assessments hereby imposed shall be raised, levied and collected in the same manner as rates and assessments have heretofore been raised, levied and collected by the Collectors of rates and taxes of the said Townships respectively, and be by them paid over to the Trustees of the respective School Sections, at the periods following, that is to say, on or before the 30th day of December now next. Section 3. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That it shall be the duty of the Clerk o( the Peace of this District, and he is hereby required to issue to the Collectors of the said Townships respectively, Collectors Rolls, to enable them to collect the said sums respectively, for the purposes aforesaid, Provided always, That no Tax shall be levied or collected in School Section No. 4, in the Township of East Zorra, until the District CJerk shall have approved of the title to the school site on which the school house in the said School Section has been erected, and the said school site acquired by the said District Council, or another school site in the said School Section has been ac- quired and the said school house removed thereto. Section 4. And it is enacted by the authority aforesaid. That the school house for Section No. 9, in the Township of East Oxford, be duly erected on the site now acquired by the District Council for that purpose, on part of Lot No. 1 1, in the 8th Concession of East Oxford.
