 tations and provide the needy portion of the Irish population with a comfortable 
 home ; but we regret much to say that it is far from being able to offer so flat- 
 tering ajn-ospecr. and those who may come will be crnclly disappointed.

 better able to struggle against diflicultics, and can better succeed in making a

 that the advantages held forth by Mr. Charlton are exaggerated, for amongst 
 those who have emigrated from Ireland years ago, many would be ha])py to 
 take for the year round the minimi. m of the wages promised to the new

 Government agent has been led into error. We have every reason to believe 
 that the denumd for female servants is very limited, and that it may be easily 
 supplied by the young women brought here, every year, by their brothers or 
 sisters already settled in the country. With regard to the others, the greater 
 part of them would And themselves in the greatest embarra.<sment, exposed, as 
 manv before have been, to all the .H-ductions of the world and to the danger of 
 loosing that peculiar virtue which the daughi'M's of Ireland i)ri/.e so highly. In

 would soon loose the faith of their fathers, to adopt that of their masters, as it but
