 T would have given Me the greateft Plea- 
 fure to have acc^uainted you, at the Open- 
 ing of this Seflion, that Our Succelr in 
 carrying on the War had been equal to the 
 Jultice of Our Caufe, and the Extent and 
 Vigour of the Meafures formed for that 
 Purpofe. 
 
 I have the finneft Confidence, that the 
 Spirit and Bravery of this Nation, fb re- 
 nowned in all Times, and which have for- 
 inerly furmounted fo many Difficulties, are not to be abated by 
 fome Difappointments. Thefe, I trult, by the Blefling of God, 
 and your Zeal and Ardour for My Honour, and the Welfare of 
 your Country, may be retrieved. It is My fixt Refblution to 
 apply My utmoit Efforts for the Security of My Kingdoms, 
 and for the Recovery and Proted:ion of the Pofleffions and Rights 
 of My Crown and Subjects in America, and elfewhere; as well 
 by the ftrongcit Exertion of Our Naval Force, as by all other 
 Methods. Another great Objedl, which I have at Heart, is 
 the Prefervation of the Protectant Religion, and the Liberties 
 Xii Europe ; and, in tiiat View, to adhere to, and encourage 
 My Allies. 
 
 For this Caufc 1 Ihall decline no Inconveniences ; and, in 
 this Caule, 1 earnelHy delire your hearty Concurrence, and vi- 
 gorous Ailiftance. The late fignal Succefs in Germany has 
 given a happy Turn to Affairs, which it is incumbent upon Us 
 to improve ; and in this critical Conjuncture, the Eyes of all 
 Europe are upon you. In particular, I mull recommend it to 
 you, that My good Brother and Ally, the King of TritJJla, 
 may be fupported in fuch a Manner, as His Magnanbiiity and 
 adive Zeal for the Common Caufe deferve.

 6f your Perfeverancc. I bnly delire fuch Supplies as ihall be 
 neceflary for the Publick Service ; and, to that End, have or- 
 dered the proper Eftiinates to be laid before you. You may de« 
 pend upon it, that the belt and molt faithful Oeconomy ihall 
 beuled. > 
 
 My Lords, and Gentiemen^ 
 
 I have had fuch ample Experience of the Loyalty and good 
 Affeftions of My faithful Subjeds towards Me, My Family, 
 and Government, in all Circumftances, that I am conhdent they 
 are not to be fhaken. But I cannot avoid taking Notice of that 
 Spirit of Difbrder, Which has fhewn itfelf amongil the com- 
 mon People^ in ibme Parts of the Kingdom. Let me recom- 
 mend to you to do your Part in difcouraging and fupprefling 
 fuch Abufcs, and for maintaining the Laws, and lawful Autho- 
 rity. If any thing Ihall be found wanting, to explain or 
 enforce what may have been mifunderilood or mifreprelcnt- 
 ed, I am pcrfuaded it will not efcape your Attention. 
 
 Nothing can be fo conducive to the Defence of all that is 
 dear to Us, as well as for reducing Our Enemies to Reafon, as
