Dances have h;.en arranged characteristic of different periods, in which the ladies and gentlemen taking part will represent various historical personages connected with Canada or its dis- covery and settlement. The following are the periods decided on, with the names of the ladies who have undertaken to organize the dances :— First discovery of Canada by the Norsemen, about the year 1000, under Leif Erickson and others.— Government House i)arty. Cabot and his Venetian friends starting on their voyage of discovery under the protection of Henry VH.— Mrs. Mackintosh. Jacques Cartier leaving the Court of Francis I, on his way to Canada.— Mrs. Daly. The days of Champlain. The early French and English settlements in Acadia under de Monts, Champlain, Sir Williar>i Alexander, and Charles de la Tour, etc.— Mrs. Dickey. The days of Maisonneuve and the foundation of Montreal.— Madame Laurier. New France in the days of the "Grand Monarque," under De Tracy, Frontenac and others.— Mrs. Gwynne. English Acadia in the days of Evangeline, and the days of Montcalm and Wolfe.-Mrs. Peter White and Mrs. Bourinot. The coming of the United Empire Loyalists in the days of Gen. Murray, Gen. Haldimand and Governor Simcoe.— Mrs. R. W. Scott Ladies and gentlemen not taking part in any of the above- mentioned dances are requested to select some character belonging to any of these periods. Before the procession into supper it is intended that the various historical groups, each preceded by their distinctive standards and announced by their heralds, shall be presented in succession to the Vice-Regal Court of the present day, which will consist of Their Excellencies and suite, with all the Privy Councillors, Judges, and their wives, who may be able to attend. Messrs. Beullac and Ponton will be ready to give designs and estimates if applied to at the Russell House. '
