This Association shall bo known as tho '♦ Quebec damson Club." 2. The Stair of the Seventh Military District and the Onicers of the several Active Volunteer Militia Corps, having their head quarters at the City of Quebec, are alone eligible as members. They shall be members ex-officio and without ballot. 3. All the concerns of the Club shall bo managed by a Committee, to consist of fifteen members com- posed of the stair of the Seventh Military District, the senior offjccr (being a member of this Club) of the Queen's Own Canadian Hussars, the " A " or " B " Battery^ or other embodied Militia Corps stationed at Quebec, tlie Quebec Field Battery, the 8lh Royal Rifles and the Ninth Battalion or Volti- geurs of Quebec, and also of one oflicer, to be chosen by such corps, respectively, from the Queen's Own Canadian Hussars, the *' A " or " B " Battery, he 8th Royal Hiflesand the Ninth Battalion or Volti^^ursof rT%.M Ovl - 4 - yueb».*c. The Committee shall have full control of the management of the Club, and it shall be tin? duty of tlie Committee to enforce the rules of the Club. 5. The Committee, three of whom shall form a quorum, shall meet once a fortnight or oftener, to transact current business. 6. Tha annual subscription shall be twelve dollars ; and no member shall be admitted to vote on anv occasion whatever, or enjoy any of the privileges of the Club, until he shall have paid his subscription. Members joining after 1st March will pay only half subscription. 7. All annual subscriptions shall be paid to the Treasurer or Assistant-Treasurer, 8. Gentlemen who are not members of the District Staff or of the Active Militia Force of the City of Quebec, are eligible as privileged members, and shall pay an Entrance fee of $25 and a subscription of $12 per annum. Candidates must be proposed by one ordinary member and seconded by another, and their names inserted in the Candidates' Book kept for that pur- pose. The names of all candidates must be posted in the Readinf^ Room for at least seven days before they are submittt^l for election. 11. On the admission of each new member, th(; Secretary sfiall notify him of the same. No candidate shall have the rij^ht to enjoy any of the j)rivile{?es of the Club until he shall have paid his sul)scription, and if the subscription of such new member be not paid within one month after his admission, his name shall be a^^(ui from the list of nu-nibers of the Club, unless he can Justify the delay to the satisfaction of the Committee. 12. The subscription shall be payable on the tst of October in each year. 13. Any ordinary or j)rivileged mcmbrr, with \\u\ sanction of a meml)er of the Committee, shall havo the privilege of introducing a friend, not a i-esident of the District of Quebec, for a period not exceeding 15 days, to enjoy the use of the Club. liul the member so introducing him shall be responsiJ)le for his conduct in the (^lul) anrl for anv dues incurred by him. Such visitor cannot introduce any other stranger. Officers of the Imperial Army, Navy and Canadian — 8 — Staff and other strangers not residing within the District of Quebec and whose residence here is temporary may, upon the introduction of a member and with the sanction of the Committee, be admitted as ♦* Transient Privileged Members " upon payment of $2 per month. 19. No resident of the City or Banlieu, who is not a member of the Club, can be brought in or allowed to make use of the Club, unless invited by a member to breakfast, lunch or dinner. 20. Politics and religious questions of every des- cription shall be absolutely excluded from the ob- jects of the Club. 21. The Club House shall be opened at 8.30 A. M., and closed at 12.30, except on Saturday and Sunday nights, when the Club will be closed at midnight. No member shall be admitted into the Club outside of these hours on any pretence whatever, unless spe- cially authorized by the Committee. 22. No books or newspapers are to be removed from the Club, and no paper or notice, written or printed, shall be put up in the Club without the sanction of the Committee. 23. No servants of the Club shall be sent out of the house upon any errands, or on any pretence whatever. — . 9 — 24. Any causo of comi)laiiit which may arise shall bo sigiiilied in writing to the Conunittoe, whose duty it shall 1)0 to investigate it at their next meeting. 25. Members are required to j)ay their bills for every expense incurred, before they leave the house. The servants are held accountable for the observance of this rule. 26. Any member infringing the above rule shall be liable to be suspended or expelled from the Club, at the discretion of the Committee. 27. No member shall bring a dog into the Club. 28. No game shall, on any account, be played for money, except Whist, Ecarte, Piquet, and Pool ; nor Dice used in the Club House, except at Backgammon. No higher stake than quarter-dollar points shall be played for at Whist ; nor shall any bet exceed one dollar ; the games of Ecarte, Piquet and Pool to be played for limited stakes — the limits to be fixed by the Committee. 29. Any article of this constitution may be altered, amended or suspended for any length of time, by consent of two-thirds of the members present at any meeting specially convened for that purpose, and provided such aiteration, amendment or suspension, shall have been specified in the notice summoning — lU — - such m»;«!ling, and that at J^ucIl iii«.M't'm{3' twenty uioniljers at least bo present. 30. The Annual Gonoral Moisting of the Club shall bo held on th(3 lii'st W(>dnesday in October in (\'U'h year, at 7.30 o'clock P. M., I'or the ]»nr|)oso of receiv- ing the report of the Committee, and to make any alterations or additions to the ConstitTition which may be considered advisable. Two Auditors shall bo elected at eacli annual meeting, who shall examine the accounts and report thereon, and also exaniino th(»m from time to time, and report then^on at tho next annual meeting.
