 cramps and colic pains, tbe following mixture is- far 
 more effective, and should always be resorted to. 
 Messrs. Long, Trowbridge and Wasbbum have used 
 It in very many cases, and wiih wonderful success.' It 
 consists ofe^al parts of Laudanum, Tincture of Cap- 
 sienm, Tinetiire pf Ginger, and Tincture of Carda- 
 mom Seeds. Dose, 80 to 40 drops, or half a teaspoon- 
 fu in a little water, and to be increased according to 
 the urgency of the case. In case the first dose she«ld 
 be ejected, the second, which should stand geady^

 Gollapse. — This is simply armore advanced stage of 
 the diaease, it indicates the gradual failings! all the 
 Pfljrers of life. It is difficult to say when a case has 
 become hopeless. At a cerUin point the body of the 
 patient begins to emit a peculiar odor, which I call th» 
 death odor, for wheif^ that has become decided and 
 unmistakable, I have never known the patient to re- 
 cover. I have repeatedly worked upon such cases for 
 boars with no permanent result. But the blue color, 
 the cold extremities, the deeply sunken eje, the van- 
 ishing pulse, are no signa that the case la bopc^leaa. 
 Scores of auch caaesin the recent epidemic, have re- 
 covered. In addition to the aecond mixture, , brandy 
 (a tablespoonfMl every half hour) bottlea of hot water 
 .surrounding the patient, eapecially the extreinitiea, 
 aioapiama and friction, will often in an hour or two 
 workwondera.

 mila tea, may freqtteatly be given to wet the throat.
