The total yield of the spr(>nt<'d seed was in three cases .jO iK>r cent Lireater than tile yiild from the tinsi.routed. and in one ease it was ovtr 50 per cent ::reater, while in the tifth case it wa.s only •>:> ikt cent preater. Tliis showed that th.' larliness could lie greatly increased by sprouting, and also that the total yield eouM be largely increased by the same operation. VARIETIES. l-'rom evidence at hand it seems that varieties of i)otatoes differ in their yields in iliifer^'iit localities. The same .arieties cannot be recommended for all districts.
