Any person engij^^cd in mercantile pursuits as a C^lerk, may become a Member of this Association, on adding his name to the Register of Members, and paying his subscription, as in the next Article. 2. Senior Clerk I^Iembers H.e. those who are over 21 years) shall pay an annual subscription of twenty shillings ; and Junior Clerk Meml)ers {i.e. those under 21 years) shall pav "i annual subscription of ten shillings. 8. Merchan"t^, and others not engaged in mercantile pursuits, may become Members of the Association, by signing the Register, and paying an annual subscription of one pound five shillinss. All subscriptions payable in advance. 4. On any individual making a donation to the Association, to the value of twelve pounds ten shillings, or upwards, the same may l)e accepted in lieu of any further subscription or contribution, and his name enrolled as a Life Member of the Asso- ciation, . ^ 1 T, .5. Persons may be elected Honorary Members at any meetmg of the Board ot Direction, by the votes of two-thirds of the members present; and such persons shall be entitled to all the privileges of regular membership, except the right to vote and hold office. fi. Any Junior Clerk becoming of age, and any Clerk Member becommg a Mer- chant, shall inform the Superintendent thereof within six months thereafter; and any Member failing to do so, shall be subject to the forfeiture of double the addi- tional subscription incurred by the change. 7. If the dues of i'.ny Meniijer remain unpaid for the term of six months, and, on his being notified thereof l>y the Secretary, the same be not liquidated within the space of one montli, his privileges of memliership s mil be forfeited, unless circum- stances exist which mav allow of his being excused by the Board of Direction. 8. Any Meml)er wfshing to withdraw from the Association, must inform the Superintendent thereof, before the termination of the year, and pay up all dues and fees owing by him, otherwise he will be considered as continuing a Member. SECTION VII.— Of the Beading Eoom. 1 The Room shall be open from 7 a. m. until 10 p. m. from the tirst of May to the tirst of November, and from 8 a. m. until 10 p. m. during the remaining six months, Sunday and Holidays excepted. .,..,. 2 No member shall sit in the Reading Room with his hat on ; no conversation shall' be allowed otherwise than in a whisper; and no person shall be permitted to smoke in the Rooms, damage or injure the furniture thereof, or conduct himselt in any wav inconsistent with decorum, , . xi to -• '.i.
