The following District C)rder with reference to the exemption of active Militiamen from serving as jurymen is promulgated for general information. District Order. -Dated D. A. (Ts Office, i6th April, 1887. With reference to the exemption of active Militiamen from serving as jurymen, under the authc^rity of " An Act to amend the jurors' Act, 1883," i)assed on the 7th April, 1887, officers com- manding 15atteries or Companies are only to give certificates of efficiency to men who have performed at least one-half of the number of days' annual drill, and have attended the annual inspection for the year from which exemption from jury duty is claimed. Special cases, such as al)sence through illness, etc., which may have prevented men who are otherwise efficient from comjilying with the above conditions may he referred to the officer commanding the dis- trict, through the usual channel of communication, who will, if c(msidered as sable, authorize the certi- ficate of efficiency being issued as a special case. With reference to the resolution of the Council of the B. C. B. (i. A. (passed znd of June, 1890) to the effect that no \iilitiamen should be deemed " efficient " so a^ to entitle such Militiamen to shoot at the Provincial Rifle Association Malcdies for the Militia Aggret;ates, or for a place on the Ottawa Team, unless such Militiamen has attended and per- formed a certain number of drills with his corps, between the isi of January of any year and the open- ing day of the Provincial Association's aiuuial meeting in the same year. Officers commanding Companies are only to give certihcates of efficiency to N. C. O. and men who have attended a* ' performed at least twelve regular parades of the B. C. B. G.
