RyLCS AND REGaLATlGNS, FOR THE Management and Regulation Of the PETERBOROUGH WATER COMPANY, made by the Directors of the said Company. \ Rates when Payable. i._That the rates or rents to be charged ^except other- wise agreed), shall be those set forth in the scliedule hereto prefixed, and shall be payable for fountains, hose, lawn sprinklers and horse troughs, yearly in advance, on the first day of May in each year, and for all other services quarterly in advance on the first day of January, April, July and October in each year, at the office of the Company. Non-Payment of Rates. 2.— That in case of non-payment of rates or rents for forty-eight hours after the expiration of the day upon which the same shall have become due and payable, the Company or their duly authorized officers, may cut off the supply of water from any house, store, office, building or part of build- in -, or grounds, upon which the said rate or rent shall be d due ; and the water shall not again be let on except upon payment of all arrears due ; and one dollar fine to pay for expenses of turning water off and on. Plumber's Work. 3. — That all Plumber's work in any house, store, office, building, or part of building, or grounds, must be done in a workmanlike manner, with good material, sufficiently strong to resist the pressure of the water, and all cocks used for the purpose of drawing off the water must be upon the compression principle, and approved by the Com[)any, or their duly authorized agents or officers, and should any of such work or materials be not approved by the Company, their agents or officers, it mny and shall be lawful for the Company to turn off or refuse to turn on the supply of water. Service Pipes. 4. — .Ml i)ersons taking water shall keep their own ser- vice pipes, and all fixtures connected tiieroAith witlnn their premises, including any area beneath the sidewalk, well pro- tected from frost at their own expense, and will be liable for any damages resulting from their failure to do so. Several Consumers from one Service. 5. — When water shall be supi)lied for more than one party through a single tap, or when only one service pipe is laid into a building to supply more than one dwelling, the bill for the whole suj)ply in the former case shall be made to some one tenant, and in the latter to the owner, who • shall in each case agree to be responsible for the whole supply, and in case of non-payment for the whole supply, : in each case the water shall be cut off, notwithstanding one »^ upon fiy for )ffi f'e. in a trong for the th eir heir •anv 5er- eir ro- or more parties may have paid their proportion to such owner or tenant. Disposing of Water —Penalty. 6. — That any person lending, selling, giving or otherwise disposing of the water supplied by the Company, or permit- ting it to be taken or carried away for the use or benefit of others, or increasing the supply agreed for with the Company, or wrongfully neglecting or improperly wasting the water, shall upon conviction thereof, pay the penalty imposed by law in that behalf, and also pay to the Com- pany double rates for each month in which he violates this clause. Street Sprinklers and Lawn Hydrants. 7. — Street sprinklers and yard or lawn hydrants must not have nozzles larger than }i inch, and are not to be con- verted into jets or used for wetting any area other than the one defined in the application therefor. Tapping Mains. 8 — That none but persons duly authorized by the Com- pany shall tap or make any connection with main distribu- tion pipes. Sidewalk Stop Cocks. 9. — That stop cocks under the sidewalks are the proper- ty of the Company, and any person found in any way tamp- ering with them will be prosecuted. Premises not Correctly Rated. 10. — If at any time it appears that a wrong statement has been made of the number of rooms in a house, or the 10 purpose for which the water was to be used, or there has been an addition thereto, or alteration in the premises, it shall be the duty of the Superintendent to make the proper correction, and the consumer shall pay the extra rate. Contracts. II. — No contract shall be made for a less period than twelve months, except by special agreement. Building Purposes. 12. — Persons who require water for building purposes shall make application in writing to the Superintendent, accompanied by an estimate of the number of bricks, cords of stone, and yards of plastering for which it is required, and pay rates in advance upon such estimated quantities, and if more materials are used than in the original estimate, the applicants shall pay any additional charges on the com- pletion of the work. Time for Laying Services. 13. — No connections shall be made between the fif- teenth day of November and the first day of May next ensuing, unless specially recommended by the Engineer or Superintendent. Shut off Water for not Complying with Rules. 14. — The Superintendent may have the water shut off from the premises of any persons not complying with the Rules and Regulations of the Company, and in case where the water has been shut off for allowing waste, or leaks, or defects in pipes or cocks, he may refuse to turn on again till he shall receive satisfactory evidence that the necessary repairs have been properly made. 11 |re has ses, it proper than Hydrants. 15. — No person or persons accept firemen duly recog- nized by the Town Council, shall at any time let off or use water from any public hydrant, without the special permis- sion of the Company or their officer. Lowest Rate, $4 Season, Limited. 16. — In no case \vill a service be laid for a less annual rental than $4, and where wpter is used for garden or lawn purposes only, the season will be limited to the period be- teen May ist and September 30th, at the latter date the supply will be shut off. Inspection of Premises. 17. — The Water Company, or their duly appointed officer, shall be allowed at all reasonable times and hours, (between 9 am., and 4 pm. ), to enter the premises and inspect the service taps, batlis, water closets, and all the apparatus for the sui)ply of water on said premises, where the water shall have been introduced. Water Takers Vacating Premises. 18. — Any person or persons about vacating any premises that have been supplied with water by the Company, or who are desirous of discontinuing the use thereof, must give due notice of the same at the office of the Company before the end of the current quarter ; otherwise they will be held for next quarter's rate. Written Applications Only." 19. — That water shall be introduced into houses, stores, offices, buildings or parts of buildings or grounds, only upon ' 12 the signature of the applicant or his duly authorized agent, who shall sign an applicati<»n for the purpose, in the form of the Schedule A., and such application shall in all cases be accompanied by a fee of $4.00, which shall be placed to the credit of the consumers' water rate account, and allowed him on first years' water rate.
