Ellen Patteson, Principal. . TERMS OF ADxMISSION. Students applying for admission must have entered on their sixteenth year, and must have passed the Arts' Matricu- lation Examination of Tiinity University, or of some other recognized University. Candidates lioldiug Second Class Teachers' Certificates will be required to take only Latin and Greek ; or, instead of Greek, any two of the departments French, German, Italian, Divinity, Physics, or Chemistry, provided that French or Geiman must be taken. Tiie College fees (payable strictly in advance) for Resi dence, Boaid, and Tuition are $250 per annum. All neces- sary furniture, bedding, house linen, plate, etc., is provided, for whicii an entrance fee of $12 is charged. Non-resident students $60 for tuition. Occasional students are admitted at the discretion of the Principal, to take partial courses in one or more subjects, the Tuition Fee being .$15 a year for each subject taken. Occasional students who desire to reside in College, pay in addition to the Tuition Fee $66.66 a Term for Board and Booms, with the same entrance fee as in the case of regular Btudents. The examination in July will be that conducted by the Education Department for the Universities. The Pass Examination will be held at Trinity College, 1'oronto, and at the various Collegiate Institutes and High Schools of the Province. The Honour papers will be set at Trinity College and at certtiin of the more important Collegiate Institutes selected by the Education Department. Candidates for this examination, if they propose to write at a High School or Collegiate Institute, must notify the Inspector and pay him the fee of $5 before May 24th, and should at the same time send notice to the University Registrar on a form which will be sup])lied on application. Candidates proposing to write at Trinity College must send the required notice to the Registrar, accompanied by a certificate of good character and the fee of $b. A second examination will begin at Trinity College on October 1st, Notice for this examination must be sent to the Registrar by September 10th, on a form which will be supplied on application, and all candidates will be required to pay the examination fee of $5, or if taking only two departments, $2. Candidates in the July examination who fail in not more than three departments ^m/itfmm>i, may be permitted by the Examiners to present themselves for examination in these departments only at the Supplemental Examination in the October following. Those who did not notify the Registrar at the time of failure must send a certified copy of the marks obtained in the July examination. The candidate for Matriculation must have entered on her sixteenth year. In order that a candidate may pass in the Matiiculation Examination she must obtain twenty-five per cent, of the marks assigned to each paper, and forty per S ■r 18 St. Hilda's Oolleqb kurcJ^ cent, of the total marks of the examination she is required to take. In the other Pass Examinations for the Degree of B.A., the candidate must obtain Bsiiaut^-five per cent, of the marks assigned to each paper, and thirty-tliree per cent, of the marks assigned to each department. ^V0(^eilino$ in %xH, BACHELOR OP ARTS. All candidates for this degree must be matriculated students and have kept nine terms. They will be required by the University to pass the Primary, Previous, and Final Examinations. In order that a student may keep a term she niust attend seventy-five per cent, of the lectures delivered in the term by each Professor or Lecturer whose lectures she is required to take. The keeping of terms may, however, be dispensed with in individual cases, in which application to that effect shall have been made to the Executive Committee, and the grounds assigned by the applicant unanimously approved by the Committee. In such cases the applicant must not be less than twenty-five years of age, and will be required to pass the Matriculation Examination, the Primary, the Previous, and the Final Examinations at intervals of not less than those which are prescribed in case of Resident Students, and to pay for each examination which she under- goes, in addition to the fees for Matriculation and Degree^ the sum of $5. Calkndar for 1893. n The permission to proceed to a Degree in this manner by examiniitions only, must he given by the Corporation before the candidate presents herself for the Matriculation Examination. Students attending lectures in St. Hilda's College will not be allowed to present themselves at the Primary, Previous, or Final Examination unless they have passed the Christmas College Examination, or the Supplemental Examination held at the end of the Lent Term, of the First, Second, or Third Year respectively. Undergraduates of other Universities may, at the discre- tion of the Provost, be admitted (ul eundem statum, up to the end of the Second Year, provided they have kept their terms by attending lectures and passing examinations. Candidates who obtain sixty-six per cent, of the total marks for pass and honours in any department will be placed in the first class in the department, and those who obtain fifty per cent, in the second class. The same privilege shall be allowed in the same circum- stances, in the succeeding July Examination, to candidates who have presented themselves for the first time in October, or taken the complete examination in October. SUPPLEMENTAL EXAMINATIONS. Those students who shall have been rejected at the rigular examination of their own vcar, or who shall have been absent for such examination, may present themselves, with the consent of the V ice-Chancellor, at a Supplemental Ex- amination which will be held early in October, and those who then fail to puss will be required to attend the same examination in the succeeding year. dW. utfa i^flmsl 24 St. Hilda's College I, tjtudents who have failed at their annu 1 regular exami- nation in not more than three departments, or their equiva- lent (Mathematics being reckoned as two for this purpose)^ may be permitted, if the Examiners think fit, to present themselves for examination in those departments only at the following Supplemental Examination. Students proposing to attend the Supplemental Examina- tion are required to pay a fee of $5, if one department only is taken and $10 if more than one are taken, which fee, together with a notice to present herself for examination, the candidate must transmit to the Registrar on or before September 10th. Candidates may take the Degree of B.A. with Honours in the following departments : I. Classics ; IT. Mathematics ;. Ilf. Theology ; IV. Mental and Moral Philosophy ; V, Physical and Natural Science ; VI. Modern Languages and Literature ; and VII. History and Literature. HONOURS. Students declaring for Honour Courses must do so from Matriculation. A student taking Honours and having had to take the Supplemental Examination must take the full Pass Course besides the honours in the succeeding year. The University Modern Language Prize, given at the end of the third year, is open to women.
