 Yes we must usu oin* own farulties. And it were well for us to be 
 clear about this. Tiiere may be some anion;,' us who have not calculated 
 their responsibility as voters in an issue, on which, under God, hangs the 
 wellbcing of the ("hinx-li throughout the Diocese. There may be some who 
 luive not realized the importance of trying to ascertain the truth about the 
 fitness of men and the needs of the Church : or who have half uncon- 
 sciously allowed private affection to rule their judgment. There may be 
 some who through modest distrust of self are disposed to lean overinucli 
 uiion the judgment of others ni'Ve expeiienced or more decided than them- 
 selves. But we must all rumendter that though we may evde ihe duty of 
 forminc and acting upon our own conscientious decision w" cannot evade 
 the responsibility attaching to our votes ! Let none, however inexperienced, 
 hesitate, having uiaile due eiKjuiries, in a s[)ir't of ju-ayer and .self-submis- 
 aion to act for himself, voting as seems to him best for God's glory and the 
 Church's good. 
 
 It is in this spirit, unified not by party interests nor by personal 
 influence, but by the H<dy Ghost, that we shall obtain if at all the man we 
 seek to rule over us ; — a true Father in (iod — capable at once of holding 
 his own with dignity amid the diverse elements of \v' ' 'h the Christianity 
 of this Province is composed and of commanding ths iv,-.pect of every man 
 among us, learned or ignorant, cultured or simidc, (jf this party or of that ! 
 And if when we obtain him we find that he does not jxissess every gift — 
 as who doas — thus elected we may confidently expect him to be supported 
 by the Holy Ghost who chose him. For the election will Ije not to re-

 One word and I have done. Our position to-day is inexpressibly 
 solemn. Wo know not where the Lord is leading us. We know not who

 to reflect how stirely he will need our prayers ! Let us pray for him before-

 altation ; that any one anionj,' uh should dart- to seek it ; that any one 
 among us should do other than pray that ho may not he thrust into it hy 
 the iniataken estimates of his brethren, is surely harilly conceivable tf) the 
 Christian mind ! For if it wore dreadful for us to place the wrong man in 
 the seat of authority, how much more dreadful were it to be the man thus 
 falsely [)laced ! 
 
 Let us then, one and ah, shrink with fear from any indulgence of 
 those earthly and selfish proclivities which a fair inference from our text 
 warns us must tend, to wiy the very least, to exclude from our delibera- 
 tions the guidance of the Holy Cihost.
