'/■ This Association shall be called The Methodist Social tJNtoN OP Toronto. ARTICLE IT. OBJECT. The object of this Union shall be to pro- mote fellowship, social intercourse, and the, spirit of Christian enterprise among the members of Methodist churches and congre- gations in Toronto and vicinity. ARTICLE m. MEMBERSHIP. Sec, i.— All ministers and adult members of the Methodist Church shall be eligible for membership. /i Sec. 2, — All applications for membership shall be signed by the applicant; and after acceptance by the Board of Directors and the payment of the entrance fee, such ap- plicant shall be declared a member. Sec. 3. — Membership in this organization shall cease whenever a member's annual dues are not paid within six months after they become due. ARTICLE IV. ' PEES AND DUES. " The entrance fee of this Union shall be One Dollar, and the annual dues One Dollar, payable on the 1st of October pi^ each year; the entrance fee constituting the annual dues for the first year. ARTICLE V. *■■'■' Officers, Directors, etc. Sec. 1,— The management ofethe Union shall be entriisted to k Bioard of Directors, composed of the Past Presidents who shall continue members of the Union, and twenty- one Directors, the latter (one-third of whom shall be ministers and two-thirds laymen) to '^•^ ■ia be elected by ballot at each annual meeting^ and shall hold office until their .successors are elected. Sec, 2.— The Board of Directors shall meet immediately after the annual meeting and elect from their members a President, i|;wo Vice-Presidents, a Secretary, and a Trea- surer.-. ;/■ ■'■ ARTICLE VI. " ' QUORUM. ; " Twenty-one members of the Union and seven members of the Board of Directors in their respective sessions shalf constitute a q^orum for the transaction of business. ARTICLE VII. Dr. Briggs on " An Outline of the work done at the last General Conference," an address on " Th# Young People and Toronto Methodism," by Rev. R. N. Bums, and an address on "A Revival in every Church," by Rev. W. F. Wilson. Rbcbption extended to the official members of the Toronto Methodist Churches in Trinity Church on Feljruary 19th, 1896. • About 1,000 present. A supper was provided. Papers were read by Rev. S. p. Chown on "The Influence of Church Officers," ^ Mr. John Donogh on "Class Meeting," and by lir. N. W. RoweU on "Why I am a Methodist.*' A general and very interesting discussion followed. ). The First Methodist Union Concert was given in the Massey Music Hall on Easter Monday, April 16th, 1895, under the auspices of the Union. The proceeds, which amounted to over |800, were devoted to the fund for the relief of three needy churches in the West End. The chorus was made up from the Methodist Church cholirs in the city, and was con- ducted by Mr. F. H. A large chorus was formed from amongst the Methodist choirtf , accompanied by a large orchestra, composed chiefly of the Sabbath School orchestras of our churches in the city. Thb Sbvbmth Banquet was held in the Metro- politan Church parlors on April 14th, 1896, and took the form of a Reception to Revs. W. L. Watkinson and R. Crawford Johnston, D.D., fraternal delegated respectively from the British and Irish Wesleyan Conferences to the General Conference of the Metho- dist Episcopal Church in the United States.
