 as to l.edanfieious ir injurious as aforesaid, the Loard of Ht^alth shall enter or

 the removal of such matter or thing as aforesaid. If the occupant or proprie- 
 toror his L.wful agent or repi-esintative having charge or contiol of such pre- 
 mises, afti r having had twenty-four houi«' notice from any such ofHcer of the 
 Board of Health to remove or abate such matter or thing as aloresaid shall 
 neglect or refuse to remove or a))ate the same, he shall be subject' to the penal-

 8. If the Boaid of Health is satisfied, upon due examination, thai a cellar, 
 loom, tennnient or building within its jurisdiction, otiu) iid as a dwelling 
 place, has become, by reason of the number ol occul'ant^, want of cleanliness, 
 the existence theiein of a contagious or inftctious disease, oi- other cause untit

 Rule 12.— Any householder in whose dwelling there shall occur a case of 
 scarlet fever, diptherid. suiall-p x, cho'era. tyi hus or tvphoid fever, or other 
 diseases dangn-ous to the public health, shall immediately notify the Boaitl of 
 Health of the same, and, until instructions are receiv»d fr.'m the Boai-d, shall 
 not permit any cloihing or other property to be removed from his house nor 
 .shall any occupant of the said house change his or her residence to any other 
 place within the Municipality without the consent of the Board. 
 
 Rule l<i.— VVhenev?r there shall come under the observation of any physi- 
 cian a ca-e of cholera, scarlet fever, typhus ov typhoid fever, diptheria. small- 
 pox, or other disease dangeioiis to pu I. lie health, he shall at once report the 
 same to the Medical Health Officer. 
 
 Rule U.— No person sick with any ' the diseases specified in Rule 12 
 shall be removed at any time except by ^ iiission and under direction of the 
 Board of Health. 
 
 Rule 15— Each and every person affected with any of the diseases specified 
 in Rule 12 shall be immediatelv separated from all persons liable to contract or 
 comnmnicate thedi.sease. and no one having had access to any person so af- 
 fected shall mingle with the general pulilic, except such person is an attending 
 physician or clergyman, who shall be required to adopt all needful precautions 
 to prevent the spread of siich disease. Nothing shall be permitted to pass 
 from the persi in so affected to any outside person unless the same shall have 
 tiist been pmperly disinfected. 
 
 Rule 16 — Pei-sons recovering from any of the diseases specified in Rule 
 12 and nurses who have been in attendance on any person suffering from any 
 such ilisease, shall not leave the premises till they have received fi-om the at- 
 tending physician a certificate that in his opinion they have taken such per- 
 cautions, as to their persons, clothing, and all other tilings they propose bring- 
 ing from the premises, as are necessary to insure the immunity from infection 
 of other persons with whom they may come in ci'niact. 
 
 Rule 17.— All per.-ons named in the last preceding Rtile are required to 
 adopt for the disinfection and dispnsal of excreta, and for the disinfection of 
 utensils, bedding, clothing, and other things which have been exposed to in- 
 fection, such measures as have been, or may hereafter be, advised oy the Pm- 
 \ incial Board of Health oi- by (he Medical Health Officer, or such as may have 
 l)een reconnnended by the attending physician as equally efficacious. 
 
 Kule 18.— No p< rson suffering from or having very recently lecovered 
 from smallpox, diptheria, scarlet or typhus fever, measles or whooping cough 
 shall expose himself in any conveyance in this Municipality, without ha\ ing 
 previously notified the owner or per.soii in charge of such conveyance, of the 
 fact of his having, or having recently had, such disease. 
 
 Ru» K 1».— The owner or person in charge of any such conveyance must 
 not, after the entry of any so infected p«'rson into his conveyance, allow any 
 otherp<'rson to enter it withmit having sufficiently disinfected it under the 
 direction of the Board of Health or the supervision of the Sanitary In«Dector

 Rule 20.— No peis. n shall transmit, sell, or expose to, from or within the 
 Municipaliiy, any bedding, clothing, oi other article likely to convey any or 
 the diseases nanu'd in Rule 12. without having first taken suih precautions as 
 the Board may direc t as necessary for removing all dangei of communicating 
 any such disease to others. 
 
 Rule 21.— Nt> person shall let or hire any hou.se or room in a house in this 
 Municipiility, in which house any of the said diseases have rectntly existed,

 buildin,' shall not be made to front upon or to be erected nearer River Street 
 within the limit aforesaid prescribed than thirty feet ; provided also that noth- 
 ing contained in this section, shall be construed to allow more than one such 
 woodshed on any one lot or premises, used as one tenement. 
 
 7. That any person or persons violating this Hy-law or anv part thereof, 
 shall, upon conviction before any Justice or Justices of the peace, lie liable to a 
 fine in cases where no specified penalty is herein defore mentioned, of not less 
 than one dollar and not exceeding twenty dollars and costs: and, in default of 
 payment of fire and costs under this bv-law, the same may be recoveied by 
 levy upon, and sale of the goods and ciiattles of the party or parties convicted ; 
 and in case nosuflficient distress can be found to satisfy the said fine and costs, 
 it shall be lawful for the convicting Justice or Justices to commit the offender 
 to the common jail of the county of i.,jimbton for a term not excet^ding twenty-

 Be it enacted by the municipal Council of the Village of Alvinston in' 
 Council assembled :-- 
 
 1. That no Transient trader or other person or persons, who, after the pas- 
 sing of this by-law, shall occupy any house, store, street, alley or other premis- r 
 esinthe Village of Alvinston for temporary periods, and whose name or 
 names have not been duly entt'ied on the assessment roll of the said Vil' 
 
 in respect of I'luome or persoiral property for the then current year, shall offer 
 for sale, sell or expose for sale any kind of goods, wares or merchandise by 
 auction or in any otlu r manner conducted by th< mselves or by a licensed auct-

 HJ And be it enacted, that any person or persons puilty of any violation of 
 this by-law shall on conviction thereof before the Heeve of the said \illage or 
 aiiy Justice or Justices of the Peace fur the County of Lambton. shall be liable 
 to a fine of not less than $5 and not exceeding $i",l) for each such offence to- 
 gether with the costs of the prosecution, and in default of pavn.ent of anv such 
 fine and costs forthwith, or within such time as niav by the conviction be 
 ordered for the payment thereof, the same may be collected bv distress and 
 sale of the goods and chatties of the .said offender or offenders, and in case of 
 there not being sufficient distress found out of which to levy such fine and 
 C().sts, it shall and may be lawful for the Reeve Justice or Justices afoi-esaid to 
 commit the offender ov offenders to 'lie common jail of the County of I ainhton

 may be imprisoned in the Common Goal of the said County for a period not ex-

 TO PREVENT CHILDREN RIDINO ON VEHICLES ETC. 
 
 Whereas it is expedient with a view of preventing children from ridinjr on 
 the Dlattor III ot cars or behind wagons or other vehicles, and for Preventing 
 accidents arising from such causes and for preventing children from olavina or 
 loitering on the streets. f j » * 
 
 Be it therefore enacted by the Council of the Corporation of the Village of 
 Alvmston * 
 
 1. That from and after the passing of this By-law all children under the 
 age of fourteen years shall not ride on the platform of any tar or ride or clintr 
 behind wagons or any other vehicle in the Village of Alvinston and the parents 
 or guardians having legal charge of such children shall be subject to the oro- 
 visions and penalties of Section 3 of this By-law. 
 
 2. That all children under the age of fourteen years shall not he playina or 
 loitering or assembled together to the inconvenience of the public on all the 
 streets, sidewaiks or crossings without satisfactory excuse from his. her or their 
 parents or guai-dians, after the hour of eight o'clock in the evening of each dav 
 in the winter months and 8.30 p. m. in the evening during the months of Mav 
 to October inclusive. •' 
 
 ^..^' If the pai-ent. guardian or other person having the legal charge of anv 
 child, shall neg ect or refuse or allow such child to violate Sections 1 and 2 of 
 this by-law shall on conviction thereof before any Justice of the Peace havinir 
 jurisdiction in the Village of Alvinston be liable to a fine of not less than one 
 dollar nor more than twenty dollars exclusive of all costs in the discretion c)f 
 the convicting Justice or it shall be lawful for such Justice to commit the of- 
 fenders to the Lock-up house of the Village of Alvinston for any period not ex- 
 ceeding ten days. 
 
 4. The following provisions shall have effect with respect to summarv pro- 
 ceedings for offences, fines and penalties under this by-law — : 
 
 . . '^L '^^^ information shall be laid within one month after the commission 
 of the offence. 
 
 (2) The description of an offence in the words of this By-law or in anv 
 similar words, shall be sufficient, ' 
 
 (3) Any exception, exemption, age. proviso, excu.se or qualification 
 whether it does or d«)e8 not accompany the description of the offence in this 
 Bv-law must be proved by the defendant, but need not be specified or negativ- 
 ed in the information or complaint and if so s{)ecified or negatived, no proof in 
 relation to the matters so specified or negatived shall be required on the part of
