fortunes in gohl (hist, a rush to the gohl fiehls
immediately commenced, and steamships have since

been leaving \'ictoria cti route lor the Klondyke lildor-
 ado every few days.

ROUTES. I'roni the head of Lynn Canal there
are three routes over the coast range of mountains,
 namely, vin White I'ass ( \o. ^5 on niai»l; Chilkoot Pass
 (No. 4- on ni;ip); .and Chilkat I'.ass ( .\'o. ."> on map).
The ])rincipal travel this year has been
over the White I'.'iss and Chilkoot Pass.
 Im])r()ved transportation I'aciiitics are now
bcmg provide<l so that by next spring it
is ex])ected lliat miners with their sui)plies
will be able to travel in two or three days
from Lynn Canal to the headwaters of the
 Yukon River.

.'uuciT^l liie travel next year will be
\7,/ the Stickecn River and Teslin Lake route ( .\o. 1 on map). There is a line of steamshi])s i)etwecn
\'ictoria and Wrangel, mouth ol" the -Stickecn River, where connection is made with steamers which
trans])ort ])assengers and freight to Telegrai)h Creek. The join-ncy from X'ictoria to Telegrajih
Creek can be made comfortably in six days. There is good land travel between Telegraph Creek
and Teslin Lake llL'O uiilcsj. The country is open and inidulating, and excellent grass abounds for
pack animals the entire distance. The Poniinion and liritish Columbia (lovernuicnts arc surveying
with a view oi locating a line of railw.ay which it is expected will be inider construction next
sjjring. .\ stc.'imer is being built on Teslin L.ake and will be ready for the ojicning of lake navigation
next .May to carry passengers and freight to the Klondyke.

The Stickecn-Tcslin Lake route vin the Ilootalintpia River on which rich diggings have been
struck avoids the dangers and hardships which are ex])erience(l on the mountain ])asses and the
White IIoi'sc and other rapids, on the routes vin Lymi Canal. •

Coliunhia where there are no royalties eolleeted or reserva-
tions made. I'roni Omineea two miners reeently arrived
 with $iS,()()() in gold dust.

CANADIAN DUTIES. It is important to
rememi)er that all supplies for the Klondyke
a nd British Columbia Gold Fields are duti-
able if purchased out of Canada, or in the

 I'nited States.

OUTFITS AND PRICES. All su])i)lies for
the miner, ])r()si)eetor and trader ean he i)nr-
ehased at Vietoria, the Capital and main dis-
tributing i)ointtor the whole of Hritish Columbia,
at lower prices than at any other ])laee on the
Paeihe Coast, besides whieh, the duty , 35%, on
most goods, is saved. The \'ietoria merehants, from e.xperienee gained in Cariboo, Omineea and
Cassiar outfitting, are speeially (pialified to advise ])arlies going north for the first time the most
 servieeable gotxls for that eountrv.

■w ^ T^RANSPORTATION. It is strom^ly reeommended that miners and prospeetors going to the
Klondyke and British Columbia (iold fields book direet to Vietoria, which is the "key" to the
northern eonntry. A line of steamsliii)s sail from Vietoria almost daily for Wrangel, Lynn Canal and
Sl. Mieliael, and the steamshii)s of all other lines call for freight and i);isseiigers at X'ietoria,

B:E sure you obtain your ticket direct to VICTORIA:
the fare is the same as to all other Coast Cities.

VICTORIA'S outfitting advantages are nnecitialled : prices are lower,
duties are saved and customs annoyances avoided.

For the eonveniene, of intending passengers and shippers arrangements are being made for seeur-
ing |.assages and freight spaee in advance, at lowest rates, for any given date.

The steamers leaving X'ietoria are all high class
boats. Their comfort and eflicieiicy are .'icknowledged
by the passengers travelling thereon liy mimerons
 testimonials published in the press.

CAUTION.— Many of the steamers for the Klon-
dyke from other Pacific ports have during the past
two months met with disasters as tlie\- were uiisca-
worthy. Passengers avoid all risks by taking the
 Victoria steamers.
