Munro and Barrle and Lowering theSh al in the Nation River at the Village of Cheslerville, In the Township of Winches- ter, for the purpose of Draining the Lands and Highways in the Townships of Ma- tilda, Mountain, WllUamsburgh and Win- chester. Whereas the Council of the Township of Matilda has petitioned this Council to proceed under the provisions of the drainage law to remove the said dam and lower the said shoal; and whereas the said Munro and Barrle have filed with thlsCouncil their consent. In writ- ing, under seal, to the expropriation of the said dam, uader the provisions of the Munici- pal Act: but this Council and the said Munro and Barrle are unable to agree upon the com- pensation to be paid for .said dam; and where- as it has been determined by this Council to grant the prayer of the said petition. Be it therefore enacted a By-Law of this Council, (1) That the removal of the said dam and ihe lowering of the said shoal be proceed- ed with under the provisions of the drainage law; (2) That R. B. Carman,. Judge, of the Town of Cornwall, be appointed an arbitrator to act for this Council in the arbitration for the de- termination of the amount to be paid to the said Munro and Barrle for the said dam; (3) That the amount which shall be awarded by the said arbitration to the said Munro and Barrle, and the amount necessary to be ex- pended in the work of removing the said dam and lowering the said shoal, as well as any other .-noneys this Council may be required to expend or pay in connection with said drain- age work, be assessed against and levied from the persons and corporations benefitted by the said work, in the proper proportions, under the provisions of the drainage liw; (4) That David R. Brown, P.L S., of the Town of Corn- wall, Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor, be and he is hereby appointed to make the necessary esM mates and assessments for the said work; and (5) That a Special Commltiee of this Council, consisting of A. Harkness, Reeve of Matilda; James Dickey, Reeve of Willlamsbnrgh; R. D.
