MAY IT PLEASE YOUR ROYAL HIGHNESS, VV E His Majesty's most dutiful and Loyal SubjectSi the IhliubiJants of the Province of Lower-CHiiada, humbly approach the sacred pferson of Your lloytil Hitrliiicss, to express our npprcltensions on our Iiavingdbscrvcd Addresses made by a number of individuals rrsidiiijy amongst us, some of whom are Members of the Exe- cutive Council, uith a view to procure changes in the Constitution of (his Province ttnd censuring; the Administration of His Excellency the Governor in Chief. This proccedintr on their part, has excited alarm throutrhout the Province, and led to a belief thslt the intrigues which were formerly in operation to injure its inhabitants in the opinion of His Majesty's Government and the Mother Country^ have ajrain been resorted to, for the purpose of represenlinjr us as Unworthy of a Free Constitution, and (hat changes therein arebeconte necessary for the preserva- tion of this im|)()rlant part of His Majesty's Dominions. We entreat Your Uoyal Highness to be persuaded that such insiiiuallons are en- tirely groundless : We are sincerely attached to the Constitution which His Majes- ty's Government has been graciously pleased to cohfer on us. It has Ifcft us nothing to desire but to see lis execution rendered more and more perfect. We humbly represent to Your Hoyrtl Highness, thttt it is chiefiy from that Con* stilntion, that the means have been derived which have saved the Country from the perfiJious attack of the United Slates. It is this Constitution which has shewn u» the full value of the Hrilish Government, and we humbly hope that the continuances of that Government, as it at present exists, will be considered by Your Uoyal High- ness as a just reward for our humble cfl'orts in its defence.
