Tho Uommittoo loarn that no arrangemont has yet boon c jnoluded in respoot to this. I. (f) Fees. 7. It will bo ob.sorved that there is a considerable increase in the estimate of fees ; this increa.so being due partly to tho highi^r rates charged, and partly to the fees paid by medical students for in.struction in Arts subjects (hitherto credited to Medical Faoulby funds). In tho estimate is also included the suras payable by students as Lal))ratary Supply Fees in the departments of Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mineralogy and Geology and Psychology. These fees in Chemistry, Biology and Mineralogy and Qoology were formerly paid to the professors in those departments, and directly e.xpemlod by them for supplies. As by a Statute recently passed these fees are now payable with other fees to the Registrar, it is recommended that in future the appropriations for e.^penditures in this connection be made by this Committee in the usual way. 8. The estimate la further increased by the anticipated receipt, during the current year of .91,400, to be paid by the Government as a reimbursement to the University for the expense attendant upon the examinations for degrees in Agriculture, which have been conducted by the University for some years past (an appears by the report of last year), without any return in the shape of fees. The Oommittee learn that there is a probability of the matter being arranged in a short time, and they have therefore included the ab^^ve sum in the estimates. 9. As was the case last year, a deduction of appears in the estimate. to go to the Medical Faculty 10. The Committee Ihave followed the plan adopted last year in devoting, as far as possible, these receipts to special services. . Profit from Guaranteed Debentures. 12. In the Chancellor's letter, prefixed to last year's report, it was conjectured that there would be a profit of $1,500 by investing $100,000, part of the proceeds of the 'Guaranteed Debentures. No sale of the Debentnres having been yet made, the Com- mittee do not feel justified in making any allowance on this account in the estimates. ' 8 Hecommendatioms Reoardino Expenditures. 13. The following recommendations are made : (a) That all stationery and postage stamps required in the service, except in the case of the Bursar's office, be obtained through the Registrar.
