Published by Order of the District Meeting, held in Toronto, Feb. 6 &7, 1850. Missionary Notice for 1§50. At the District Meeting, held in Toronto, February Gth and 7th, the Circuits and Mil. lions were veprcsente.l by Prcaclicrs and Laymen, who jointly compose those assemblies. A.11 the indi 'iduals present took a deep interest in the proceedings. Earnest praytr was oilered up to God every hour, and much of the Divine presence was felt throughout the entire Session. On the last day of the Meeting, all the Dele- gates assemble i' round the table of their comn'"' Redeemer, in the spirit of love and unity, and partook, of the sacred emblems of t!>" Lord's body and blood. It was a time of refreshing from the presence of the Lord : the atonement was realized by faith ; and all withdrew filled with the baptism of the Spirit, resolving for God to live and die. The Morning and Evening Preaching Services were attended with a blessed unction, which flowed in a continuous stream, saving and sanctifying souls. The Reports from the various Stations were cheering, and demonstrated an onward course, with the exception of «he Talbot Mission, which has suflTered, in consequence of the affliction of the Missionary (.T. Towler), who has not been able to labour on that Station fornearly six months, and during which time the Committee were unable to obtain a suitable supply ; consequently, the small flock in that locality v/ere nearly scat- tered, hke sheep without a shepherd. There are m this District fourteen Travelling Preachers ; one hundred Local Preach- ers ; thirty-one Connexional Chapels ; nineteen Sunday Schools ; two hundred Teach- ers ; and one thousand, two hundred, and twenty-seven Scholars. There are also one thousand, six hundred, and thirty Members in Society. The increase for the past year is seventy-nine. We adore the great Head of the Church for the prosperity with which we have been favoured ; but as the harvest is great, and the labourers few, we pray that the Lord of the harvest would send forth eflicient Ir.bourers into the field, which is the -world. As the Committee anticipate several additional Missionaries to occupy, in a short time, various portions of the large field in Canada West, it is hoped that our Missionary Collectors and Subscribers will more than ever exert their eflbrts, in their respective neighbourhoods, that God may still continue to honour the labours of the Primitive Methodist Body in these. lands, in saving hundreds and thousands of precious souIb.
