 Dear Sir :

The accompanying circular "will explain to yon
the object for which I address you.

For the benefit of the youuger members of my family I
have seen fit to resign my position as Secretary to the Church
of England Temperance Society, in the Manchester Diocese,
and to establish my home in this country.

I desire still to continue the work of Temperance — a
work in whieh I have for so many years been engaged — and
by means of lectures in Canada and the States, endeavour to
do good to the community at large, and at the came time
provide myself and fa^nily with a living.

I trust that I may receive whatever support it is in
your power to give me in this matter, and shall be pleased to
give a lecture in your school, or any convenient place, upon
some date that will be mutually suitable, and on the follow-
ing page you will find a syllabus of several of my lectures,
which I may say have attained a certain amount of popularity
in the districts where they have been delivered.

I shall be pleased to learn your views at your earliest
eonvenience, and to communicate any further particulars,
 terms, etc.

 Believe me^ dear sir,

 Yours very faithfully,

 {Signed) GEORGE WARD.

Lectures on Church History, &c.

 «• » •« ♦■

That the position of the Church of England in Canada
may be improved and that she may be raised to that place
which is Hers by every right, it is necessary that the people
of this Country should be educated as to Her history and
know the truth as to Her work, for calumnies and slander
are plentifully hurled at Her and unfortunately little refu-
 tation is made, .

Under the auspices of the Church Defence Association
I have delivered numerous lectures appertaining to the
Church, Her Work and Her History, and shall be pleased
to deliver any of the following as request is made :

 1. The Antiquity of the Church of England.

 2. The Church of Rome — the Pope no successor of St.
 , - „ v Peter. , -'::-"? .^'.'

 3. The Church of England not founded or created at

 the Reformation. -

 4. The Church of Rome never the Church of England.

 5. Why the Church of Rome became great and powerful.

 6. The Supremacy of the Pope a usurpation.

 7. The Church of England under Cromwell and the

 Commonwealth.

 8. How Puritanism and Dissent began.

 9. The Church of England and the Sects.

 10. The Church's struggle with the Liberation Society.
