The preparation of a chissiHcd cataloj^ue would recjuin; more time than is now available, but as lists of both kinds are recjuired for ready reference, one of the latter will probably be prepai-ed to accompany this. When specimens ai'e referred to as behjut^in*;' to a " collection," it means that the contributor has presented tifty or more pieces. When specimens have been purchased from reputable local collectors, the names of only the original tinders are here given. Owners of property on which specimens have been found in the course of the Curator's tield-work, are credited as donors. The most generous friend of the nuiseum is l)i'. 'J\ W. Beeman, of Perth, through whom, directly and indirectly, many hundreds of valuable specimens have come into our possession, as a result of which primitive life in the country about Lake Rideau is very fully illu.strated, perliaps moi-c so than any other district in the Province. To Messrs. James Dwyer, Jas Rae, H. F. Switzer, Rev. A. (J. Morice, Angus Buie, A. McKnight, Jas. Cairnduff, Jas. ])ickson, D.L.S., W. G. Long, H. Merriam, Herbert and Theophilus Conner, William and David Melville, George, Robert and Albert Lougheed, C. A See, Cyrenius Bearss, Hugh Nichol, Prof. G. S. Ramsay, Drs. Craig and Collins of Lawrenceburg, Ind., Rev. Dr. Joseph Aunand New Hebrides, F. F. Payne. Rev. Dr. J. McLean, F. \V. Waugh, J. H. Crouse, E. C. Waters, Jas. S. Heath, J. W. Irwin, Dr. T. A. Beeman, George Miller, B. Jackes, W. G. Wright, M. M. Fenwick and Clarence B. Moore, Philadelphia, we are especially indebted for numerous highly valuable specimen.s. The names of these and of all other donors appear on the labels. While the museum is at present fairly representative of the archajology of Ontario, there is yet a necessity for nmch material. For comparative purposes specimens from other countries are very desirable, but there is no room for curiosities. Objects lacking specific data as to origin and uses are valueless for scientific purposes. Those who may wish to contribute archaeological or ethnological specimens illustrative of life in any country, are invited to correspond with the Curator. h 1 Ht col *4 St. \VH ». St( wa 4 Stc 5.
