 Th' se cars are seven in number ; they all nm 
 from 31 bt Street, New York, over the Hudson 
 Uivvr Bailroad, and tak<> fiom Albany diflerent 
 directions. The one we. got in went only as 
 far as Saratoga, and one dollar fifty extra is 
 charged to each passenger to ride in it. These 
 cars, owned by Mr. Wagner, are sixteen feet 
 longer than ordinary coaches, and have four 
 extra wheels in consequence. They are laid 
 out in •' state-rooms" or iiarlours,— three 
 of them an'ommodate each eight passcn- 
 giTS, and eight others, four eacii. Between 
 these two different sets of rooms lies a par. 
 lour proper, where four cushioned revolv- 
 ing chairs and three sofas fire to be found over 
 aJinely carpeted floor. At the emi of the car 
 whero the three large state-rooms lie, the pas- 
 sage-way is on one side while at the other end 
 it is in the middle. The divisions separating 
 all the rooms from ouo another do not reach 
 the ceiling of the car, for ventilation sake, 
 and all are ornamented on both sides with 
 large framtd mirrors. The seats are Bi)fa bot-^ 
 tomed and between them a portable table can 
 be adjusted for th« convenience of passengers. 
 The windows in each room are large and 
 furnished with curtains to exclude the sun ; 
 the doors also are curtained so as to make pri- 
 va<!y complete. These cars are simply " day 
 cars." The heating for cold w.ather is ot- 
 tiiined by heated air, each of them being furn- 
 ished with two stove-like apparatus' under- 
 neath between the wheels for that purpose, the 
 dohf air being distributed everywhere by pipes
