The Committee of Management shall have power to elect, from time to time, without ballot, any Princes of the Blood Royal, Cabinet Mimsters, Bishops, and any Distinguished or i^ianient Individuals, to be Honorary Mem- BEus of the Society. At such Election six at least of the Committee shall be present, and all concur therein. XVI. Gentlemen residing in the Colonies shall be eligible to become Associated Mem- bers of the Colonial Society (subject to the Ballot, and to be proposed by one Member and seconded by another), on an annual payment of Two Guineas,— and on occasional Visits to the United Kingdom they shall be entitled to the privileges of Members— such Visits not to exceed three months in any one year. Should such Member dispute the propriety of his removal by the Committee, a Special General Meeting shall be convened by the Com- mittee, and the sense thereof on the question of expulsion, taken by ballot, shall be decisive. Between the decision of the Committee, and the final decision of the General Meeting, such Member shall be suspended from all the privi- leges of the Society ; and any Member so ex- pelled, whether by the Committee or a General Meeting, or any Member who shall resign or cease to belong to the Society, shall forfeit, ipso fado, all right or claim upon the Society, or its property, or funds ; and sha.. -ease to be a Member without appeal, B 1 If Visitors. The following Regulations upon miscellaneous sub- jects, but all tending to the one grand object of securing to the great body of Members the largest quantity of comfort, economy, and convenience attainable, have been issued by the Committee, and are appended for tlie information of Members. 2MENT, : SOUEF, ENTRANCE HALL. Members are requested to deposit their great coats, umbrellas, clogs, &c., in the hall (a servant being spe- cially a] ^pointed to take charge of them) previous to entering into the apartments of the Society. No Stranger is to be admitted to view the house unless accompanied by a Member, and it is recommended to Members not to introduce their friends except between the hours of twelve and five in the day. The following Regulations have been issued as instruc- tions to the Hall Porter. The Hall Porter will enter in his book once a day the name of every Member coming into the Society. A MESSENGER Attends in the hall for the pur])ose of being employed hy Members in the conveyance of letters, messages, &c., for which he is remunerated by them according to a scale fixed by the Committee, and exhibited in the hall. COFFEE-ROOM. The Steward is to be in attendance during the coffee- room dinner hours, in order to see that the business is properly conducted by the Waiters, and to attend to and redress the complaints of Members. The Butler attends the coffee-room in person, to sup- ply the wines, &c., called for, and makes the charges for the same (according to the established prices) upon the dinner bills o' Members. Breakfasts and luncheons may be ordered until four o'clock ; after that hour dinner prices commence— bills must be made out, and the " tahle-monef charged. Suppers may be ordered until one o'clock, after which hour no orders of any description can be re- ceived. Members, when ordering their dinners, are requested to fill up a form of dinner-bill themselves^ and not employ a waiter to do it ; and when friends dine with them, to insert their names, in addition to their own, on the dinner-bill. No dressing-room can be occupied by the servant of a Member previous to the arrival of his master to dress. Any portmanteau, bag, or luggage of any kind, brouo-'ht by the servants of Members into the dressmg- room^s, is to be taken away immediately after use, and not to be allowed to remain in the house to be used on any future occasion. No servant of the Society to be employed by any Member to assist him in dressing. No servant of a Member to be allowed to go down into the lower or basement story of the house. The same rule as to payment for articles of earthen- ware which may be broken, applies here as noted under the head of " Coffee-room." Members are requested to give notice, in writing, to the Secretary, h^ letter, of any irregularity m- neglect on the part of the servants. And no application tor reinstatement from a servant who may have been dis- missed on the representation of a Member, shall be read or taken into consideration, unless it shall come through, and be recommended by, the Member for misconduct to whom he was dismissed.
