Dear Sir, An election of great importance to McGill University will take place on Thursday the 21st, viz: the election of an attending (in-door) physician to the General Hospital in place of Dr. Oslbr. It may not be known to you that nine years ago McGill Colle<'e established a summer session for the Medical classes, especially with the object of teaching the students at the bed-side, and that Prof OsLEu was entrusted with that duty, being eminently qualified for it. These summer sessions have been so successful that they have been made compulsory, and no student can obtain the Medical degree of McGill University, unless he have attended one summer session ^t least. The University is desirous that Dr. Richard Macdonnell, who has shown marked capacity in bed-side or clinical teaching, having acted as Dr. Ross' assistant in that department, should get the vacancy in the hospital staff made by the resignation of one of it's (the University's) professors-Dr. OsLER-and unless that is done very serious injury must result to that institution, as it will be deprived of the opportunity of teaching clinical medicine to its large class of students in the summer sessions. May I isk you kindly to co-operate with the other friends of McGill College in electing Dr. Macdonnell to the vacancy in question, and much oblige Yours very truly, R. P. HOWARD.
