This amount of ^2,939,429.97 includes the amounts of capital and interest charged originally to the Terrebonne and Ottawa Counties. A judgment of Court declared the issue of the debentures in this case to have been illegal, declared the Counties released from all liability therefor, and an order in Council, dated the 4th June, 1801, releasing these municipalities, confirmed this judgment.
