W.i eat is iu general a f»ir crop. Barley a good crop. Oats promiBc to be abundanl, and i» sowed to a Brreat extent V ■ Pease are a heavy crop on dry land, but liare suffer- ed on Uw wet soils. Indian Coni planted to a greater extent tlian for ma- ny y«irk past, and loots welL PoUtoes lodk well on high dry lands, but hare suf- >redTery much on- flat lands from (he heary piios iri he latter part of June. - Hay most abtudant, and is likely to be as low in price aa for years past STATE of' SOME FARMS, &c. Mr. Perrault,. of St Catherines, President of the Society, haa his exteosire farm in the highest state of improrement We admired particuhrly a fine read through the centre, and the farm judiciously subdirid- cd_by gpoi fences of wood and stone, with well made painted gatca opening into each ioclosure. , A part that Imd been a bare quarry had stone to the depth of two or three feet tsken off, and ia now growing a heavy crop of barley. His oows, thirty-six io number, are very fine. Mr. Ermatinger, of Longue Pointe, deserves tho grestest praise for the high state of cultivation of bis extensive property. His buildings, fences and stock of cattle are most excellent * Major Gregory'a farqi at Woodhndshas been great- ly improved Ue bst four years. His stock of caUle (bred by himaelf) are superior to moat in the county. Mr. Penner of Lachine, vice president of the socie- ty, bos his farm in the best coodition. , The regtilar ai;|d neat manner in which his hops are planted and dressed particularly arrested our attention. Hia farm ia convenientlr sub- divided— we remarked 80 acreaof summer faUow on a property purchaaad by him last year. His sheep, (someimportedby himself,) are su- perior toany on the ishnd. The farm of Mr. Sommerville, of Lachine, ia in excellent <>rder— and well managed. 1 Mr. E«ans of Cote St PaU, SeerMary to thKocie- ty, haa miade . great improvement in his Arm, (where improvement wss practicable) : we cannot emit men- tioning hia crop of pbtatoM— of which he haa near thir- ty (teres planted on high land— as the deaoest and'mott forward we hare seen. Mr. Brodie of Cote St Pierre, haa hia farm in good order, with good feneea and buildioga. Mr. Ogilvic, Riviere St Pierre, though an unsuc« csssfUl competitor, hia crops having sufltsred from the heavy raina in June, haa his farm in excellent order, and iipll, maiiaged. . The flirm, stock and cropa of Mr. Fisher of iMlp^ Pointe, do him great credit , "^II" We take nartittiifaur pleasure in mantionins the ji|gR state of enltivatioa of several fanna owned hr Cana- dians.
