 On the norlli side of Lake Superior, at Neepipfou Bay, close to which the pro-

 Winipe;^ river, hi thi! plain of the Saskatchewan, beds of coal crop ont on the 
 projected line of rojul, near the Touchwotwl llillw, 400 miles west of Fort Garry, aud 
 a^'ain 400 niilcM further west, near Lonir Lake, in Long. IJ'!'^. These will become 
 invaluat>le, both for the use of the riiilroad and of the future inhabitants of (he 
 jilain, where wood is scarce. In JJritish Columbia, the road traverses the celebruted
