 This Association shall be known as 
 Association of the City of Montronl. '

 The object of the Association shall he the advocacy 
 and support of libin-ul polilicai {principles, the brinii"- 
 ing out and promoting' the election of Candidates, 
 the calling of Conventions when deemed necessary, 
 the publication and dis^^^-ibation of campaig-n and other 
 documents, the scrut! and revision of voters' lists, 
 the enrolment of nev\ lembers, and united action 
 with similar Associations when considered advisable. 
 
 Article ///.—Membership. 
 
 Any two members may propose a person for 
 membership by giving* his name and address in 
 writhig to the t:5ecretaries, who shall post up in a 
 conspicuous place in the rooms ot the Association the 
 name and address of the candidate and the names of 
 his proposers. The Executive ( ommittee shall deter- 
 mine his admission by ballot, a two-thirds vot(^ of the 
 members present beinu* necessary to his election ; but 
 no person shall be balloted for unless his name has 
 been posted at least eight davs before the election. If 
 accepted, he shall become a member on paying the 
 admission fee and signing the Constitution and By- 
 laws.

 Sec. I.— The Officers ol' this Association and the 
 Members ol" the Executive Committee shall ])e elected 
 annually by the members at the General Meetino- of 
 the Association, on the lirst Thursday in December. 
 
 Sec. II.— All elections shall be by ballot. 
 
 Sec. III.—The Executive Committee shall fill up all 
 vacancies occurring- in their number during the year. 
 
 Article Fi/.— Removal, Suspension, or 
 Expulsion. 
 
 Any officer may be removed, or anv member may 
 be suspended or expelled, by a three-fourths vote at a 
 regular meeting, or at a special meeting called ibr the 
 purpose; but no such motion shall be made unless 
 notice thereof in vrriting has been given the accused 
 through the Post Office, and posted in the Rooms of 
 the Association at least three days before the meetino-. 
 
 Artide VIIl- - Amendments. 
 
 No alteration, amendment or addition shall be made 
 to this Constitution, except bv a two-thirds vote of the 
 members present at the Annual Meeting, or at a 
 Spec'al Meeting called for the purpose, and after ten 
 days' previous notice thereof in writinu'.

 President, or any member, he shall at once take his scat, 
 and the point shall be decided by the President, without 
 discussion. 
 
 Sec. VII. — If any member feels aggrieved by the decision 
 of the President, he may appeal to tlie Association, and the 
 question shall be put:— ".Shall the decision of the chair be 
 sustained ?" 
 
 Sec. VIII. — Upon the request of any ten members, the 
 President shall order the yeas and nays to be taken, and 
 recorded in the minutes. 
 
 Sec.IX.— In every Committee, except the Executive 
 C j:>^mittee, one-tliird of tiie members comprising it shall 
 coQMituto a quorum, provided that not less than three shall 
 at any time constitute such quorum. 
 
 _ Sec. X.— All Reports of Committees shall be presented 
 m writing. 
 
 Sec. XI. — No alteration or amendment shall be made 
 to these By-laws or Rules of Order without ten days' pre- 
 vious notice in writing, and a two-tliird vote of the mem- 
 bers present at an annual meeting, or at a special meetin<r 
 called for that purpose; neither ean tluy be suspended at 
 ordmary meetings but by a unanimous vote, and for the 
 occasion only.
