Entries for Consolation Handicap, No. 4 will be received up to Friday eveniiii^, September 7th. 2 The order in which matches are to be played may be chang-ed at the discretion of the committee. 3 Each competitor in Handicap matches will be required to keep both his own and his opponent's scores, and hand the same to the Secretary after the match, with sijj^nalures. 4. The St. Andrew's rules of play (1899) shall gfovern all matches with the following- local exceptions : (i) Any ball played over the river front may without search be con- sidered a lost ball. (2) A lost ball is not to be considered as a lost hole in match play. The penalty is the loss of one stroke. The second ball shall be dropped as near as pos- sible to where the first ball was lost. (3) A ball played inside the embankment of Fort George may be lifted and pi lyed from the tee at the teeing ground with the loss of one (i) stroke ; i.e., playing the third stroke. (4) A ball lying in the wheel ruts indicated bv small blue Hags may be lifted and dropped behind the hazard without penalty. (5) In match or medal play a ball may, under penalty of one stroke, be lifted out of any hazard and dropped behind the same, (with the exception of Fort George.)
