 Passed in the years 1872, 1874 and 1875. 
 
 BY-LAW No. 5 OF 1872. 
 
 To provide Pounds and appoint Pound Keepers and for rcr 
 straining the rnnning at large of certain animalt andjor 
 causing the impounded animals to be sold, when not claim- 
 ed within a reasonable time or in case the damages^ fines 
 and expenses are not paid according to law. 
 
 Tl^orejfore the Corporation of the Town of Goderich by 
 the Co.uncil tliereof enact as foljowa ; — 
 
 Ist. That two Pounds are hereby authorized to be estab- 
 lished, one in St. Patrick's Ward, and one in St. An- 
 drews Ward, in t)be said Town of Goderich. 
 
 2nd. That Silvester Poyle, of the Town of Goderieh 
 shall be the keeper of the Poupd in the Ward of St. 
 Patrick's, and that James McFarlane of the Town of Gode- 
 rich, is hereby appointed keeper of the Pound in tlie 
 W^nrd of St. Andrew's. 
 
 3r,d. That the said pound keepers shall provide suffici- 
 end pounds, yards and enclosures for the safe keeping of 
 such animals as it may be their duty to impound, at a 
 sufficient distance from the Public Streets, so that the 
 affluvia arising therefrom may not incommode the Travel- 
 ling Public. 
 
 4th. That all Horses, Bulls, Oxen, Steers, Sheep, Goats 
 ^nd Pigs iunnmg at large within tlie limits of the Munici- 
 pality of the Town of Goderich shall be liable to be im- 
 poupdod in either of the Pounds so established, and subject 
 when no damage is sustained) to the payment of the'fees 
 hereinafter set forth. 
 
 5th. Ou the impounding of any of the above named 
 aniwals the Pound keepers shall within forty-eight hours 
 thereafter, post up in three public placep of the maniri- 
 pahty, notices of the sale of said animals, and flhall speq'i- 
 fy the time awd place at which the anitaals will be public- 
 ly sold if not sooner replevined or redeemed by the ownBi 
 or some one on hi§ behalf, said notices to he affixed arid
