This Camp shall he known as Inverness Gamp, N0.54, Sons of Scotland Benevolent Society. Sec. 2. The Tartan worn by this Camp shall he the Hunting McLean Tartan. * Meetings. Sec. 8. The regular meetings of this Camp h al- be held on the second apd fourth Fridays of each month throughout the year, the last meeting in December being the annual meeting, at such hour as the Chief shall appoint. Should the regular night for meeting be a. legal holiday, said meeting shall be held on a day appointed by a majority of the mem- bers present at the previous meeting. Officebs. Sec. 4. Appointed Officers. -The following offi- cers shall be appointed by the Chief : Sick Com- mittee composed of seven (7) members ; Amusement Committee of five (6) ; Standing Committee on Rules of three ; and such other Committees as the Chief may think necessary. Fees. Sec. 6. The fees for initiation shall be : From 18 to 30 years of age, $8; from 30 to 40 years, |9 ; and from 40 to 60 years, |10. Two dollars (12) of this must accompany the application, and the re- mainder of the fee must be paid before the applicant can be initiated. These sums will include payment of the Medi- cal Examination and of the Beneficiary Certificate. The fee for reinstatement shall be the safne as for initiation and membership, as prescribed in Sec. 41, Sub. Camp Constitution. Dues. Sec. 7. The monthly dues for active members shall be thirty-five (35) cents, which shall be paid at the first regular meeting of each month. The dues for Honorary Members shall be |2 per year. Incurring Debt. Sec 8. No expense other than ordinary current expenses shall be incurred unless by a vote of the Camp previously obtained, nor shall any account be paid until it has been approved and sanctioned by the Camp. i^i ( til OF INVERNESS CAMP, NO. 54, 8. O. 8. Funeral Benefits. Sec. 9. Upon the death of a member in good standing, an order shall be drawn upon the Treas- urer for the sum of fifty dollars (UO), payable to his personal representatives, the order to be signed by the Chief and attested by the Financial Secretary. Secrecy. Sbc. 10. No member shall make known out of this Camp any of tlie proceedings, decisions, or busi- ness of any kind transacted within the same, to any person not a member of the Camp, and no member shall in open Camp make use of any profane, irrever- ent or improper expressions, or introduce any conver- sation tending to cause a difference of opinion on political or religious subjects, on a penalty of being censured or otherwise punished as the Camp may determine. Sick Benefits. Sec 11. Every member who has been in con- nection with the Camp for the space of six months, and is not more than three months in arrears, if taken sick, and is unable to attend to his ordinary business in consequence of such sickness, shall re- ceive a sick benefit of one dollar (^1) per week for the space of 13 weeks, should the sickness continue so long. Such sickness must be verified by a physician and thechairman of the Sick Committee, when the Chief shall cause an order to be drawn, signed by himself and t.hA Financial Qoorof a H^r />v» 4-U^ .xuas" FT 6 BY-JiAWS AND RULES OP ORDER h IV urer, for the amount due in accordance with the above rate. Sec. 12. Any member who is in good standia^, if taken sick, will be held good by the Camp while that sickness lasts, as directed in Sec. 49, Sub. Camp Constitution, provided he was not more than three (3) months in arrears when taken sick, but after recovery he must pay all arrears within three months in order to keep himself in good standing. Directions to Sick Members. Sec. 13. In order to comply strictly with the rules of this Camp, a sick member is requested to notify the Chief, whose duty shall be, if he deem it necessary, to notify the chairman of the Sick Com- mittee, t. Sec 14. Any member of the Camp who ahall by drunkenness, immoral or disorderly conduct, bring upon himself sickness or disease, shall not be entitled to assistance from the funds of this Camp during the period of such sickness ; and further, should any member while receiving benefits from the funds be found intoxicated, or guilty of any conduct to pro- long his sickness, he shall not be entitled to any assistance from the funds of this Camp during the remamder of such sickness. Sec. 15. Any and every member making appli- cation a second time to be allowed the benefit of the sick fund, must have been declared off the said fund for a period of at least six calendar months, other- wise he will not be entitled to receive the full allow- OF INVF-HESS CAMP, NO. 54, S. O. S. anne as provided by, and more particularly expressed m Sec. 11, of these by-laws. Should he be declared on the sick fund before the expiration of three months, then he shall be entitled to receive an allow- ance at the same rate only as that received by him at the time of his declaring off the said fund, provided always, that in the event of a member meeting with an accident he may, by a vote of the members re- corded at a peneral meeting convened for that pur- po-e, receive the full benefit or allowance so specif ^d m the clause a.,ove referred to. Hi l\ules of Brdep, -ooo- The rules of. order of thie Camp shall be as follows : 1.— No member Phall be allowed to enter or have the Camp while it is being opened or closed, or while a ballot is beiuo taksn. 2.— A member wishing to speak, or submit a motion, must rise and respectfully address the Chair shall confine his remarks to the question and observe strict courtesy and decorum. 3.— On a point of order being raised, while a brother is speaking, or when called to order bv the Chief, he shall stop speaking until the point of order shall be stated by the brother objecting, when the Chief shall decide thereupon without debate, when after being decided upon he shall proceed. 4.-Members shall not enter into conversation with each other while a brother is speaking, or in- terrupt him in any way except to call him to order as such conduct shows a want of respect ior the brother who is speaking, as well as for the Camp OF INVERNESS CAMP, NO. 54, 8. O. S. 5.— If the Chief indicates a desire to speak, while a brother is on the floor, that brother shall stop speaking that the Chief may be heard. C— No amendment to a motion shall be in order after an amendment, cr after an amendment to an amendment, unless for the previous question or to lie on the table, but after a vote has been taken on the amendments, and they have been declared lost, farther amendments are in order. 7. - A ballot shall be taken on a question when called for by two members, either immediately before or after an open vote shall have been taken. 8.™ All brethren shall observe the first call of the gavel of the Chief, and no bro^-her shall cross the floor of the Camp without first stopping in the middle of the floor and saluting the Chief. 9.— A brother wishing to retire from the Camp will first rise and ask permission of the Chief ; if granted, he shall approach the centre of the room and salute the Chief before retiring. 10.— A motion that has been declared lost can- not be renewed at the same meeting of the Canap, otherwise than by reconsidera-Mon, and if renewed at a subsequent meeting two weeks' notice thereof must be given, 11.- When two or more members rise to speak at one time, the Chief shall name the one who is en- titled to the floor. 12.— No motion shall be entertained until it is seconded, nor shall it be in order for a brother to 10 BY-LAWS AND RULES OF ORD?R rise either to debate or amend the motion, until it has been stated by the Chief. 13.- -The previous question may be called for by three brethren and shall be put in this form by the Chief : Sh^l the question now be put ? If decided in the affirmative, the vote shall be taken upon the amendments, and if lost, then on the main question. 14. When a motion is laid on the table by vote, it is disposed of for that day. 15.— A motion to reconsider must be made and seconded by members who voted in the majority when the question was decided. 16.— Special committees, or mdividual members thereof, are liable at any time to be summoned be- fore the Camp for neglect of duty, and be repri- manded, fined, suspended or otherwise punished as the Camp may determine. 17.— A. motion to siispend or alter the order of procedure as laid down in the foregoing rules must be sustained by a t^yo-thirds majority, and each suspension or alteration can only be for the re- mainder of that meeting. X8.— A brother violating any of the provisions of these by-laws, when not otherwioe provided for by the Constitution, shall be reprimanded, fined, sus- pended or otherwise p'laished as the Camp may determine.
