Wi : 1 UiL . 1 ''/if'-; •>i 'r <•!*- [Paued 4(h March, 1837.] '.HEREAS it it tot the benefit of ihit Province, that the City of Toronto and Lake Huron Rail-road should be romplefcd with ai little delay at pouible : And vktreat, it it eipcdient and right to afford aid to thit unaertaking, by way or loan, to be secured in manner hereinafter mentioned : Bt it therefore tnacted, by the King't moit Excellent Majetty, by and with the advice and content of the Legiilaiive Council and Aitemuly of the Province of Upper Canada, conttituled and atMmUed by virtue of and under the authority of an Act passed in the Parliament of Great Britain, entitled ** An Act to repeal certain partain parti of an Act passed in the fourteenth year of Hit Majeity't reign, entitled ' An Act for making more effectual provision for the Government of the Province of Quebec, in North America, and to make further provision for the Government of the said Province," ■nd by the authority of the same, Thit whenever the City of Toronto and Lake Huron Rail-road Compaiiy shall produce to the Receiver General of this Province satisfactory evidence, by the affi- davits of the President and two of the Directors of the said Company, and by such other proof and evidence at the Receiver General shall reasonably require, that the sum of twelve thousand five hun- dred pounds shall have been paid in by the Stockholders of the said Company upon the Capital Stock thereof, and that the taid sura has been actually expended in the construction of the taid Rail- road, the taid Receiver General shall issue and deliver to the said Company, Government Deben- tures in sums not less than fifty pounds, at the option of the said Company, to the amount of thirty-^ seven thousand five hundred pnunds, bearing imprest at a rate not to exceed six per centum, payable half-yearly, and redeemable in twenty years ; and that when and so ol\en as the said Company shall produce like evidence to the Receiver General of further sums, not less than one thousand two hun- dred and fiAy pounds at each time, having been paid in by the Slockholdors of the said Company, upon the Capital Stock subscrihed, and that the same has been actually expended at aforesaid, the Receiver General shall issue and deliver to the said' Company, Government Debentures for a sum of three thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds, in sums not less than fifty pounds, at the option of the said Company, bearing interest at a rale not to exceed six per,centum, payable half-yearly, and redeemable in twenty years, until the whole amount of said Debentures shall equal the sum of one hundred thousand pounds. 3. [Passed :ib March, 1837.] EXTRACT. " 5. And be it further enacted by the authority aforetaid. That the Toronto and Lake Huron Rail-road shall, in like manner, be divided into three sections following, that is to say: The first section shall commence in the City of Toronto, or the Liberties thereof, and terminate at the sooth side of the Oak Ridges; and the second section shall commence at the end of the first, and shall ter- minate on the northern side of the said Oak Ridges ; and the third section si: ail commence at the end of the second section, and terminate on Lake Huron, in the Township of Nottawasaga, or such other place in the County of Simcoe as shall be determined upon, and that the construction of the second section shall not be commenced until the first shall be completely finished, and in like man- ner, the construction of the third section shall not. be coibioenced, until the second section shall be completely finished. " 6.
