No member shall be eligible for the position of Master (except by special dispensa- tion of the Grand Master) unless he has pre- viously filled one of the Warden's chairs, or is a Past Master. 11. The Master shall have power to summon his Lodge when he deems it proper, or any officer or member thereof, for cause. 12. The Master is the custodian of the char- ter, records, furniture and jewels of the Lodge and is responsible for the strict observrance of the ancient landiparks, Laws, Regulations and . The stewards, under the direction of the Senior Warden, shall see to the safe keeping and care of the jewels, furniture and other property of the Lodge; and under the direction of the Junior Warden, shall have the ordering and arrangement of refreshments. r INNER GUARD. 22'. It shall be the duty of the Inner Guard to attend to the inner door; to admit Masons on proof, receive candidates in due form, and obey the commands of the Junior Warden. TYLJitt. . 23. No applications shall be withdrawn after reference to a committee, except as hereinafter provided in this section. If the report of the committee or of any mem- ber thereof be unfavorable, no ballot shall be taken, but the Master shall, upon the reception of such report, declare the candidate rejected. If the report be favorable, the candidate shall be balloteil for; and if for initiation it shall require an unanimous vote to elect. If the committee find the applicant disqualified in coneequence of insufficient resid- ence or physical disability, and find no other objection to him, they shall make a special report thereon ; in which case the Master may direct the withdrawal of ^he application with- out further action, and such direction shall be entered upon the record. 29. This Lodge shall have but one ballot for the three Degrees, but though an applicant .may be elected to receive them, if at any time before his initiation objection be made bv any member, or if, after his initiation, but tjefore - being passed, or after passing, before being raised, objection to his advancement be made by any member, such objection shall be refer- red to a Gommiitee, with power to enquire into the cause thereof, who shall, at the next regular meeting (unless further time be given) report thereon ; and upon the reception of such report, if no cause for the objection has been assigned, or if the cause assigned be, in the opinion of two-thirds of the members present, not a valid and Masonic one, the J^dge may confer the Degrees in the eanae manner as -if no objection K had been made. Should the charge be found valid before initiation, the applicant shall be rejected; if any Degree has been given, the Brother shall be proceeded against as provided for by the Constitution.
