Si r, 1 I e THE EXHIBITION GROUNDS Occupy an area of fifty acres and are located on Mount Royal Avenue, on the north-western outskirtR of the cityi from which point a magnificent view is obtained of the surroundiog country. These groundp are universally admitted to be the finest on this Continent, a portion being in Mount Royal Park, connected by meand of a substantial bridge with the original limited area. The Park portion includes a splendid Race-course with stands for spectators. Extensive buildings, recently erected for the display of Implements and Machinery of all descriptions, (in motion) as well as those for the accommodation of Horses, Cattle and Live Stock generally, are of modern construction and complete in every particular. Comfortable seats will be found at convenient intervals all over the grounds, while refreshments of every description may be obtained at the numerous Restaurants or Lunch- rooms. Ice-water Fountains, free to all, will be found in various parts of«the Grounds. Suitable booths for the deposit of satchels, shawls, &c., will be in charge of responsible parties, who will issue checks for articles left in their care. T.he Grounds may be easily reached from any part of the city in a few minutes, either by means of the Street Railway, omnibusses or hacks. A line of busses runs from the Post ofiice to Mount Royal Park every 30 minutes. The Pacific Railwav Co. will run special trains to Mile-End every half-hour, from Dalhousie Square and from Hochelaga stations. Pedestrians, preferring a green field route, or short cut, will avail themselves of the splendid new plank road way recently laid from the head of Upper Bleury Street, through Fletcher's Field, to Mount Boyal Avenue. 8 citizens' committee Provincial Exhibition IKCLUDINC. On THURSDAY, 14th, TO THE CLOSING, SATURDAY, 23RD SEPTEMBER. i The Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Swine, &c.,will be in position on ' MONDAY, 18th SEPTEMBER, after which date, every branch of the Exhibition will be in operation under the direction of the Permanent Committee, who are resolved that it shall be a DISPLAY OF UNPRECEDE9ITED ORANDEUM. The Exhibition will be under the distingnished patron- age of His Honor the Lieut. -Governor of the Province of Quebec, and will be open to the public daily, PHIOE OF ADHISSIOH. - 25 CENTS. Isitors are re- quired to provide themselves with the necessary TWENTY- FIVE CENT PIECE before entering the Turnatile-house, as it will be impossible for attendants to make change. A FIRST-CLASS BAND will discourse sweet music daily, on the kiosk, from 2 to 6 o'clock, the Cornwall Fire Brigade Sind playing on the opening day of the^ Exhibition. A VARIETY OF GAMES AND SPORTS, under the auspices of the Citizens' Committee, will take place in the afternoons, particulars of which, with Prizes oflFered, will be published in hand-bills on the grounds. A PARADE OF HORSES and other LIVE STOCK will take place in the ring daily, at 2 o'clock, from Monday the 18th to the clo.-.ing day of the Exhibition^ and a Grand Parade of all Prize Animals will take place on Thursday and Friday, the 2l8t and 22nd. THE LIEUTENANT - GOVERNOR of the Province will honor the Exhibition with his presence on Tuesday, the igth, when an Address will be presented at 1.30 o'clock, at the kiosk. Lunch at 2 p.m For the convenience of exhibitors and officials, a post- office, together with telegraph and telephone offices, will be established on the grounds, connecting with the city. The Lacrosse Match between the Toronto and Mon- treal Clubs takes place on Saturday, the IGth September. : All Hanlan's Prizes and Champion Cup8, also his Champion Boat, will be placed in one of the Exhibition buildings. A Lacrosse Match will be played between the To- ronto and Shamrock Clubs, on the Shamrock LacrosAo Grounds, on Saturday, the 23rd September. The Aquatic Sports will take place in the New Canal Basin, at the foot of McGill Street. The North side of the Basin will be reserved for Ladies and their escorts. En- trance to this side only by floating bridge across the Lock at foot of McGill Street. General entrance to the other three sides via Black's Bridge only. The Canadian Pacific Railway will run a special service of Trains to the Exhibition Grounds, from Thurs- day, 14th, to Saturday, the 23rd September, both inclusive, leaving the New Depot at Dalhousie Square at 9 and U a.m., and 1, 3 and 5 p.m. Return Trains will leave the Grounfig at 10 am., 12 noon, and 2, 4 and 6 p.m. Fare, 10 cents, or 15 cents for the round trip. The Troy Citizens* Corps are expected to arrive by special train over the Central Vermont Railway, on Monday evening, September 18th, at 8 o'clock, and will take part in the parade of the whole force on the following [Tuesday] morning, at 10 o'clock. The Barlow Greys, of St. Albans, and the Ransom Guards will also be present. The Regi- mental Band of the First National Guard will accompany the viiitors. . r- OFFICIAL PROQRAMMB. 19 r MISOBLLANBOUS. The Art Gallery, Phillips' Square, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., ^during the term of the Exhibition. Splendid collection of Paintings and Statuary. Entrance fee, 10 cents. The Natural History Society Museum, University Street, will be open to visitors free of charge during the Exhibition term. The Mechanics' Institute, St. James Street, and the Reading rooms of the Young Men's Christian Association, Victoria Square, and of the Merchants' Exchange, St. Sacrament Street, are all freely open to visitors. The Electric Light will be used in different parts of the city and on the summit of Mount Royal. Vessels in the Harbot of the various Lines running between Europe and this port, some of which are especially worth seeing, will be open to visitors during the forenoons of Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 21st, 23rd and 25th, from 10 to 12 o'clock. Railway and ' Steamboat Companies will convey passengers to and from this .city during the Exhibition at reduced fares. (See posters and other public announcements.) In addition to Hotel accommodation afforded in the city, rooms may be had at the Iroquois House, St. Hilaire ; Lome House, Varennes Springs ; Hannah's Hotel, and ot cTB at Lachine ; Hotels at the Mile End, 3ack River, jcc., — all at moderate rates.
