The Church and Parsonage of Christ Church, Victoria, were built, and the land counectcd with it set apart for the Church of England under the authority and administruvion of the Hudson's Bay Company, with the sanc- tion ol llor Majesty's Gorernmoiit, tor the purpose of carrying out eccles- iastical arrangements for Iho main- tenance of rcliffion in the Colony ; and also in fuUilment of an agrecmcni between the Hudson's Bay C'ompany and Mr. Cridgo, by virtue of which the latter was appointed the Minister of Victoria District. By this agreement Mr. Cridgo was to receive an "a remuneration for his services a Parsonage and glebe of 100 acres," and a stipend, payable with the sanction of tno Socroltiry of State for the Colonies, out of the hind fund of the Island. Tliis agreement was signcij in Loudon on the l2th August 1854 by Mr. Colville, (Jovcrnor of the Hudson's Bay Company, und by Mr. Cridgo.
