Mrs. Dawson Kerr, St. Thomas, Ont. ip The Womcn^s Canadian Historical Society of Toronto* PREAMBLE. The considerations which have led to the formation of TiiK Womkn's Canadian Historical Socikty of Tohonto are as follows: The rapidly rising status of Canada among the nations of the world ; that a unity of national purpose and a high ideal of loyalty and patriotism in her people will alone sustain her in such high position ; that to this end a thorough acqujiintance by her people, both native and immigrant, with her heroic past, is of the first importance ; that her history, literature and archives, her peotry and art are yearly becoming more valuable in affording the necessar}' knowledge; that an intelligent and self-respecting national pride in Canadian literature needs to be awakened and encouraged ; that the value of documents, records, and relics, lioth public and private, as notes in tlie history of a people is not generally realized, and that the collection and preservation of them is most important. In view of the above considerations, a number of ladies of this city met and formed the Womkn's Canadian Historical Society of Toronto, and have adopted the following constitution : CONSTITUTION, Article T, — Title.
