TIME FOR GOING THROUGH THE FALLS. Thii ii placed on the N. £. extremity of Campo Bello, and is a guide to vessels entering the main ehannel to West Isles, Moose Island, and the inner Bay of Passamaquoddy ; it enables vessels also at all times to enter Head Harbour. Point Lt Preau Lighta,— Upon this projecting Head Land, two Lights have lately been placed, one above the other, and distant 18 feet. Both lights can be seen from every point of the Compass, where they may be useful* -^•■-■^«' Partridge Island Light.— T\m Light, at the entrance of the River and Harbour of Saint John, having been established upwards of forty years, requires no particular notice. Beacon Light, — Within Partridge Island, and upon a spit or bar, which extends about half a mile S. S. E. of Sand Point, and which dries ac two-thirds ebb, stands the Beacon Tower. Upon this Tower a Light is established, which is eminently useful to the coasting trade of St. John, and to all other vessels having Pilots on board, as it enables them to enter the Harbour at all hours of the night. fVeat Quoddy Light.'^TWxa is an American Light, and is placed on the West side of the entrance into the St. Croix by Lubec and Eastport; a ae"' 'igbt bouse has lately been erected here, and the light much im- prove' 1 ;-i V .id Lights, upon the Machias Seal Island, were put into ope- ration in October, 1832 — they are elevated about 45 feet above high water, and bear from each other E. S. E. and W. N. W. distant about 200 feet, by which they will be immediately distinguished from all other lights upon the coast, (British or American)— the following are bearings from them, viz : — To the Southernmost Murr Ledge, (St. Mary's,) E. S. E. easterly. Gannet Rock Light, E. by S. 4 S. 13 miles. Southern Head of Grand Manau, E. by N. ^ N. Northern ditto, N. E. J^ E. N. E. Rock, distant 2 miles, N. £. by N. Little River Head, N. by W. Libby Island Light House (American,) N. W. by W. Vessels in standing in to the Northward, between these Lights and the Gannet Rock, should tack or haul off the moment they bring these lights in one, as they will then not be more than three- fourths of a mile from the Murr Ledges, if more than 5 miles to the E. of the lights. 9> Caps Brston.— A Light House was erected on Low Point, — the Eastern point of the entrance of Sydney Harbour, — in October, 1832, with a fixed light. A iVh^te Beacon has been erected on the East Head, leading into Louisbourg Harbour, upon the scite of the old French Light House — which may be seen at a very considerable distance.
