Two samfdes (62100 and 61885) violate these Umits bj containing more than the permitted amount of the preservative present. In moat caaea, the amount of preservative present is well within the prescribed limit, and in many cases, is properly described as a trace only, and therefore negligible On account of the long established usage of preservative in this article and the comparatively recent enactment of standards in regard to preservatives. I would recommend that samples otherwise genuine, be treated leniently so far a^ declaration 1* concerned: but with the undert.anding that, after this notification and warning all violations of departmental requirements will be strictly dealt with.
