Tioa jrorNtTER The object ©fusing a jointer (or small plow) in place of the coulter is to divide the furrow-slice and thus more thoroughly pulverize the soil. The Jointer carries its mall fi rro'v-slice of surface soil over into the bottom of the furrow more effectually than can otherwise be c'one, and the back or large plow brings its furrow -slice oyer and covers it completely, leading tfie surface^level and light. It will completely inveft iveeds, stubble and manure, &r heavy cl&per, so that it will not drag up: No torn stubble can bfe plowed as it shdwld be without it. Sod, at one plowing, is made as mellow as a summer fallow, andean be harrowed across the furrow without dragging up a particle of turf. An important advantage the jointer has over the coulter is its cheapness of repair Ihe coulter very soon becomes dull and blunt, refjuiring upsetting and refaeing with steel, costing from four to six shillings, and time in going to the blacksnuth's shop, worth in the busy season, as much mote. When the Jointer point becomes worn out, the farmer only has to loosen one bolt, replace it with a new one, making the jointer as good as new. at a cost of only IV/enty five cents and five minutes time at the L ngest. 'I he jointer doen not increase the draft any more than a coulter, and will work wherever a coulter can be used Our Plows are furnished with Jointer or Coulter, at the option of the " purchaser TTOXJ V^XXJIm ^MM^S^ M Wt^tH^Mk WLWi IF YOU DO NOT SEE AND TRY THE Y \ -MANUFACTURED BY- J.
