 some change in soil or weather condition influenced that particular variety murh 
 more than it did the othern. The onl.v way. therefore, to obtain reliable information 
 from a seriea of variety tests with field roofH, is to compare the average yield of ea<li 
 variety for a number of years. By following this method the voriety which, nay nt 
 the end of a period of five years, shows the highest average may, with other factor* 
 being equal, be considered aa the mo»t useful variety to grow.

 (iiant Half Sugar White is a long, preeninh white variety, somewhat roiiph and 
 nnuuiform in shape although usually lurRc- It has a fairly heavy top and is often 
 broken in handling. ItB keeping quality may be considered aa fair. 
 
 Selected Yellow Globe \» a yellow globe-shaped variety of fairly uniform size and 
 shape. It has a small top and is easy to handle. Its keeping quality is only fair. 
 
 Oiant Yellow Inlermediiite is a half long variety, yellowish orange in colour; 
 Ir.rge but fairly uniform in size and shape with a medium aiied top. It is easy to 
 handle and of good keeping quality. 
 
 Prize Mannnoth Long Red is a large, long, red variety, eomewhat unu. . jrm in 
 type and rathf-r incline<l u> he rough in shape. It has a heavy top and is considered 
 haid to handle. Its keeping qualities are good. 
 
 Oat* Po$t is a long, red variety somewhat inclined to be rough in shape and 
 unevenly large in sise. fhe top is rather heavy and the root is aometimea faulted as 
 loing disagreeable to handle. Its keeping qualities are good.
