ARTICLE I. Name. — This association shall be denomina- ted the "PiCTOu County Temperance League/' ARTICLE IT. Cbtiiict. — The object of this League shall bo to finite the effects of the various temperance a^sociai^^ns iri thifv county, for the advancement of the cause, but especially in the employment of temp63'ance lecturers, the circulation of temperance literature, and in action regarding the civil law. ARTICLE III. Membership. — Sect. 1. — This League shall be composed of certified delegates from the sev- eral temperance associations in this county, and all resident clergymen as honorary mem- bers. Sect. 2. — It shall be the duty of each associa; tion in connection with the League to elect annually as many representatives to this League as it may deem advisable, and also to furnish the League with an annual report. Officers. — Scrt. 1. — The ofTioon^ of this Ijcnguo sliall be, a President, nine Vieo Presi- dents (three for eacli township), a Secretary, aiid a Treasurer : all to bo elected annnally, by ballot, in .Inly. ^(^ct. 2.— The odicers shall constitate an exeenlive commitlee for carrying into effect the decisions of the League, and for the general control of it.^ o])erations, and shall present an annnal report of their doings. ,5V(?/^ -^—It shall be the duty of the President to preside at all meetings of the League, and to call special meetings when a majority of 1ho officers request it. ,S>c^. 4.— It shall be the duty of the Yico Presidents, in the absence of the President, to pre^^ide, in the or.ler of their election ; to further the objects of the League in their res- pective townships, by tlie formation of tem- perance societies, where it is found practicable -, the holding of public meetings as frerpiently as possible in the several sections of their town- ship; and procure contributions to the funds of the League. Sect, 5.— It shall be the duty of the Secretary to keep a record of the proceedings ; to pre- pare and forw^ard to each organization blank < s # % # » if annuul roiurns; to prepare the anmuvl report ; juitt to perform such other diitien as the Leaii;ue or its ofilcers inay direct; and shall receive bucli remuneration for his services us the League may determine. S^^>^.t^ G.— It shall he the duty of the Treasu- rer to receive and hold all the funds of the League, and to pay all such orders or bills as are signed by the President and Secretary, and present an account in July. ARTICLE V. ■jOuNDS.— aSVc^ 1.— The funds of the League shall be raised by voluntary doiuitions, by collections at public temperance meetings, and by means of county tempei-ance bazaars. ^^^ct. 2.— The funds of the League sball bo expended in the employment of temperance lecturers; the circulation of temperance litera- ture ; aud in any way that the officers may deem best calculated to secure its objects. ARTICLE VI. Meetings.— >S'ect L— The regular meetings of tlie League shall be half-yearly ; and special meetings, to bo held at any time and place by vote of the League, or by request of a majority of the officers. Sect. 2.— The regular meetings shall be held alternately in Pictou and J^ew Glasgow, during the months of January and Julyj the day and "N^ ji^' /,; .-■.: (8) hour to be determined by the President.
