The President shall then call for nomi- nations for a candidate or candidates. Such nominations shall be in writing, with the name of the proposer and seconder. As soon as fitfeen minutes shall have elapsed from the time of the first nomina- tion having been made, the President shall declare the nominations closed, and no further nominations shall be received unless the Convention otherwise directs. At the Convention a standing vote shall first be taken pledging the meeting to support the nominee of the Convention by all means in their power. Before the name of any candidate is submitted to the meeting, he must pledge himself, or if absent, his nominators mjj«t pledge ehemselves for him, and produce and file with the Secretary at the time of nomination a written pledge from such i8 candidate that he will cordially support whoever may be the nominee of the Con- vention. Any candidate shall have the privilege of withdrawing before a vote is taken. Vote by ballot shall be taken on dl candidates ; the ballot papers are to be official ballots prepared by the Secretary.
